  • Adventures Await: Bluebonnet Book Project

    Funded Apr 15, 2025

Thanks to your support, our students are diving into the 2025–2026 Bluebonnet Book collection with excitement and purpose. These books are helping us teach valuable reading skills like summarizing, making inferences, identifying theme, and comparing character traits across texts. Each title offers unique opportunities for students to connect with diverse perspectives and talk meaningfully about what they're reading.

Reading in our library is full of energy and discussion. Students are recommending books to each other, adding star stickers for each finished title, and proudly tracking their progress. One student who usually avoids chapter books has already finished two and is eager for more. These stories are truly building momentum in our reading community.”

The humor and graphic novel style of the series make it especially effective for engaging reluctant readers and encouraging them to stick with a chapter book from beginning to end.

Reading time in our library has become lively and focused. Students are eager to check out the next book in the series, discuss plot twists, and even create their own comics inspired by the characters. • Library Essentials for Clean, Creative, and Organized Learning

    Funded May 9, 2025

Thank you for supporting our "Library Essentials for Clean, Creative, and Organized Learning" project! These new materials are being used every day in the library. Students are using Sharpies, Post-its, and colored pencils for their genre projects and book recommendations, while the laminator and pouches have helped us preserve their work and display helpful reference charts. The crayons and "Colors of the World" pencils have been a favorite during our identity and self-expression reading activities.

Students were excited to see the fresh supplies and immediately started using them for our author study boards and library centers. With everything now clearly labeled and better organized, they are taking more ownership of their space. Next, we will launch student-led book review posters using all of these tools!”

  • Spark Curiosity With Diary of a Wimpy Kid Library Collection

    Funded Jan 23, 2025

Thanks to your incredible generosity, my students now have access to the full Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and their excitement is contagious! These books have become a go-to choice in our library, drawing in even the most reluctant readers. With relatable characters and humorous storytelling, students are not only enjoying reading but also developing critical literacy skills like comprehension, sequencing, and making inferences. Many of them are practicing summarization by sharing their favorite parts with classmates, while others are learning to compare characters' experiences to their own lives—helping them build empathy and confidence in their reading abilities.

One of my students, a fourth grader who used to struggle with independent reading, now races to the library every morning to check out the next book in the series. Another student, who typically prefers graphic novels, has been devouring these books and is even encouraging friends to read them, too. Your generosity has brought a vibrant collection of stories to our library, and I'm thrilled to share how these books are already making an impact.
