Surface Pro
Funded Mar 7, 2015I want to thank you for all of your support in getting the Surface Pro. We have enjoyed playing on it in the classroom. I have been searching for apps related to math games, etc. I have found a graphing app that allows the students to put in an equation and it will graph the line for them. I have also found an app that will be useful with spatial representation when we get to geometry. I found an algebra practice for students who might need extra help on a specific concept.
Students are getting onto the tablets and interacting with a quiz online through socrative teacher app. I can see how they are progressing with the concepts taught in class. This also allows me to see who needs my help on certain concepts in math. I can also see who is doing really well.
The surface pro is also helpful in science. Students have used them to research different concepts in science. They are able to see pictures and video to help understand what we are covering in class.
It has been great to see students excited to do math and science. Thank you again for contributing to the wonderful new technology we have in the classroom.”
With gratitude,

Students are getting onto Accelerated Math online with the tablets. This is very helpful to students that don't have a device. I really enjoy allowing the students to go onto Accelerated Math. This is a program that has been purchased for me to run in my classroom. Students are given their own account and they work at their own pace with the math concepts that are taught in class. This allows students to review concepts they might need extra help with. This also allows me to see who needs my help on certain concepts in math. I can also see who is doing really well.

My favorite app I found is a math game involving two step equations which is an important concept to understand in both 6th and 7th grade math. I have the classroom divided into tables and each table is a team. They have been competing against each other to see how many problems they can get right in a row in 2 minutes. If they get one wrong they start over at zero. I also connect it to the computer so that everyone can see how each table to doing through the LCD projector. They have become very competitive and studying this concept so that they can win the game each day. I think that they understand the concept more without even realizing it because it was put into a competitive game. The students have been getting so enthusiastic and yelling during and after the game. Other students are figuring out the problems even when it is not their turn so that they can be ready for the game when it is their turn.
