One Computer For Each Student
Funded Sep 15, 2015Thank you so much for donating to our project. Because of your generosity, we have a computer in each of our 5th grade writers' hands. They are able to research, type, collaborate, and create on a daily basis. Their writing has improved immensely because of this access to technology.
In addition, students have compared weather in various cities, written digital books to help slow climate change, and taken action to fight against rights violations around the world. These are just a few of the amazing ways they use this technology. Without access to technology, none of this would have been possible.
Thank you again for supporting our students. They are worth it.”

Technology Given To The Right Students Can Change The World
Funded Oct 9, 2014Our Promethean Board has been in full use for about a month now, and it has enhanced our educational experience greatly. I wish you could have seen the students' reactions when they walked in the first day it was there. Some students simply said, "Woah!" Others just stared with wide eyes at the new interactive white board, then back at me, and then back at the board. Still others cheered when they walked into the classroom. Needless to say, students were slightly distracted at first.
Once the distractions wore off, we were able to see what our new tool could do. Before, students could barely hear or see instructional materials on the board. Now lessons, videos, and more are brought to life and students can fully interact with the materials. We have had students creating collaborative digital movies on our board using its touchscreen capabilities. Students highlight and annotate texts as they learn. Soon, students will be accessing weather simulations on our new board to help us learn how to predict weather!
Our students were always great learners. However, your generosity has provided them with a powerful tool that takes their learning to the next level. Thank you for supporting these wonderful students. We appreciate you greatly!”

Mr. Flancbaum
These Readers are on Fire Take 2!
Funded Sep 13, 2013This project has been so beneficial to our students. It has put technology in the hands of students who would not have had access to technology otherwise. Typical student responses to receiving the Kindle Fires were, "Cool!" or "Wow!" Their engagement has increased due to these resources, as well.
We use these resources in several ways. First, we use them during reading groups to provide differentiated texts to our students. Students are able to find books on their level to read, and are instructed at an appropriate level. In addition, students use the Web capabilities of these devices for research. Right now students are researching forms of energy and ways that we can conserve energy in our world.
As a teacher, these devices give me more flexibility to do research projects that involve research. I am able to put students in smaller groups, which impacts their learning because they get more hands-on experience. Student learning is increased because they are not having to share technology resources as often. They are more efficient in their research, and in turn, experience greater learning.”

Mr. Flancbaum

This classroom project was brought to life by Kia Motors America and 15 other donors. We Can See!
Funded Sep 14, 2012Thank you to all of the donors who made this project possible. Your generous donations will improve the learning experience of many students for years to come.
Students are benefiting from being able to see instructional materials more clearly and efficiently. They were thrilled when the materials arrived and we have already put them to good use. I have been told that they are able to understand lessons better because they can see exactly what is happening on the board. Students enjoy going up to the document camera and sharing their brilliant ideas with the rest of the class.
Thank you again. We truly appreciate your generosity.”

We Need To Chill!
Funded Apr 15, 2012Thank you again for your generous donation. The air conditioner, as you know, is so necessary for our students. The year has started and we have had 3 days of low to mid-90's temperatures. That translates to at least that or hotter in the classroom. The air conditioner has helped to lower the temperatures to a more reasonable level.
My students and I are incredibly grateful that you allowed us to use this in our classroom. It has made for a more bearable start to the year.
I know this school year will be a fantastic one, and part of that credit goes to you. ”
With gratitude,
Mr. Flancbaum
