  • Colonial Fair...Do You Dare?

    Funded Aug 16, 2023

    Thank you for the "colonial fair, if you dare" items. The costumes, quill pens with antique paper, quilting materials, and new books have been a success! The students were so excited to see all the materials, they were begging to try on the costumes, even my coworkers were joining in on the fun. As we learn about colonial history, will be using the items to "experience" the colonial times.

    Besides having the colonial fair with the other 5th grade classrooms, the students will be quilting pillows for their parents as a Christmas gifts. They will learn how to write on antique paper with their very own quill pens! They will even get to dress up like the people in colonial times, which they love to do.

    Having the chance to experience history instead of just learning about it, will help create positive life long learning experiences. On behalf of my students and myself, we thank you so much!”

  • Can You Wobble, Can You Wobble, Can You Wobble?

    My students are so energetic and fun. They love to move around the room and socialize with each other, especially with their new Wobble chairs!

    They gathered in different parts of the room to work and would take turns using the wobble chairs. They had a lot of great ideas and discussions, which were easily encouraged by using flexible seating.

    Students need opportunities to move around while learning in the classroom. After two years of the pandemic where many students were learning from home on a laptop, returning to the classroom has been a major adjustment for many. Going from working at the kitchen table, couch, or bedroom to a traditional desk and chair has been a challenge for many.

    Students are having to learn to be social again and to work together in person.

    The wobble chairs helped the students move while at their desks and are easy to move to a group setting. They helped the students sit up and provide balance, as well as a fun way to learn.

    The light covers helped create a calm learning environment that promoted discussions and learning. The paintbrush sets were for the days that we painted and listened to music. The students will always remember the wobble chairs and the fun they had with each other.”
