Building Floating Maglev Train and Electromagnets
Funded Apr 11, 2025On behalf of my students and myself, I want to sincerely thank you for your generous donation of Maglev components and for your interest in our classroom. Your support will allow our students to engage in hands-on learning, explore the principles of magnetism and engineering, and deepen their curiosity about science.
We truly appreciate your generosity and the impact it will have on our students’ learning experience. Thank you for being part of their educational journey!”

Predator-Prey Dynamics and Adaptation: Deer Mice
Funded Dec 2, 2024Thanks to your generous support, our students were able to engage deeply in our Natural Selection and Adaptation project. With the materials funded by your donation, students conducted hands-on experiments modeling survival and trait advantages, including an exciting predator-prey simulation using different-colored "deer mice" and varied environments. This activity helped them visualize how adaptations impact survival in real ecosystems.
One of the most powerful moments came when students analyzed their results and saw how fur color influenced survival rates depending on the environment. A student excitedly exclaimed, "It actually makes sense why animals look the way they do!" These discussions led to rich connections between real-world examples and the theory of natural selection. Students who typically struggle with abstract concepts were fully engaged, making predictions and debating which traits would help species thrive over time.
Your contribution didn't just provide materials—it sparked curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of how life adapts and evolves. Thank you for making this meaningful learning experience possible for our students!”
With gratitude,
Mr. King

Funded Sep 21, 2024Thank you for your incredible support in providing our classroom with Lenovo 100e Chromebooks! These devices have been transformative for our students' learning experience and have opened up countless new opportunities for engagement and growth.
In our classroom, technology plays an important role in fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. The Lenovo 100e Chromebooks have become tools for research, interactive simulations, and project-based learning. Students use them often to access digital resources, participate in virtual science labs, and collaborate on shared documents for group projects. They make learning more engaging for all students, especially those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and English as a Second Language (ESL).
Recently, we used the Chromebooks for a collaborative project where students explored the germination of the Three Sisters (corn, beans, and squash). They worked in teams to create detailed slide decks documenting their experiment, observations, and conclusions. The project culminated in a presentation night where students showcased their knowledge and skills to their families and members of the community. It was inspiring to see their confidence as they explained their findings using visuals, animations, and data they had prepared on the Chromebooks. Many parents remarked on how proud they were of their children's ability to use technology to articulate their learning so effectively.
Your generosity has made all this possible, and it's incredible to see how these tools have leveled the playing field, encouraging every student to reach their full potential. Thank you for investing in our students' future and for believing in the power of education and technology to transform lives.”

Funded Aug 31, 2023I am thrilled to share the incredible impact your donations have had on our students through the Zen Oasis project. The water fountain, diversity posters, lamps, and seating mats you provided have transformed our learning environment into a peaceful and inclusive space.
Your generosity allowed us to create a calming atmosphere with the addition of the water fountain and soft seating mats. These elements have significantly improved students' focus and relaxation during mindfulness sessions and study periods. The lamps you donated have enhanced our reading nook, creating a cozy environment that encourages a love for literature.
Your support has not only provided essential resources but has also inspired creativity, empathy, and collaboration among our students. We are deeply grateful for your contributions, which continue to have a lasting positive impact on their educational journey.”

Funded Jan 31, 2017We are so incredibly thankful for your donation of the materials to build our hydroponics system in our classroom. Students have been working hard to assemble the individual pods needed. There have been a few soaked movements, filled with laughter and excitement about pumping water to the tops of our hydroponics system. We are are now trying to work on flow and adding new plants to the system. We are hoping to donate them to our community garden!
Students were so excited that they could study science hands on. They loved working on opaque barriers for the plants roots and testing their independent variables using the growing pods. One student said "I can't wait to do this at home with my parents!"
I am looking forward to using the system in our next unit on invasive plant species of Forest Park. We will be preforming test on the plants in our classroom thanks to your hydroponics donation. Your donation continues to be a source of beauty for the classroom an a place of scientific investigation.”

Funded Oct 28, 2014The sixth grade teacher team, sixth grade students and the Green Team would like to genuinely thank you for your generous contributions to our class, our community garden and to our invasive species research. We feel incredibly lucky to have a supportive community and to have such great resources for our final unit of study.
The students were thrilled with the quality of the shovels and loved the fact that the shovels had the depth imprinted on the shovel. It has made planting seedlings much more accurate and efficient. We are also looking forward to using our new tools and resources in our invasive species removal experiment coming up in June.
The references have made learning about invasive species more meaningful. They have provided differentiated texts for our students that crave challenges and have also provided real-life application getting students debating about invasive species.
We are using and will continue to use these materials with care. Thanks again!”

Funded Nov 12, 2013We would like to thank you so much for your contribution to our science class. We are incredibly lucky to have these profession green roof guides in our classroom and now part of our school library. These guides provided us expert guidance and real world connections to our case study. Students used these books as a resource when building their knowledge of green roofs and referenced them as they designed their green roof models/experiments.
In addition, Social Studies also used these valuable resources in their curriculum. They used the guides to help design public service announcements about green roofs. They took the announcements into Forest Hills and educated the community about the benefits of green roofs.
As we wrap up our Building Cities expedition we reflect on how much we have learned and what an amazing experience we have had. Thank you so much for making that experience richer for the students and for myself. We truly appreciate your generosity.”

Mr. King
Scientific Inquiry and Research
Funded Feb 12, 2013Thanks again for all the support to our 6th grade science classrooms. The good news is that we received our 8 brand new Samsung Chromebooks and 2 Nexus Tablets a couple of weeks ago and the students are already using them.
We really appreciate the donations! Students used the computers last week to compile class experimental data from our green roof materials experiment. As real scientists, students were able to analyze classroom control data vs. their own data, make conclusion and discuss scientific error.
This week we are moving into our new expedition and students will again be using the computers to access expert texts and articles made available by your donation. They will be collecting their facts on a classroom presentation and displaying them for other students to view.”
