  • First Graders Want Todd Parr Books!

    Funded Oct 4, 2024

Thank you so much for your extremely generous donation! I introduced the Todd Parr book bin to my class today and we had the opportunity to look at the books by ourselves or with partners. Todd's colorful and simple illustrations always put a smile on our faces! Afterwards, I read Todd's book, "The Kindness Book". I know that these books are going to be one of the most popular bins in our class library. Thank you for helping us to get these awesome books! We appreciate your generosity! We think you are amazing!”

  • First Graders Want To Learn About Coins!

    Funded Oct 13, 2024

Thank you for your extremely generous donation. Thanks to you, my students will learn about coins every day. We will figure out how many days we have been in school and then, we will create a coin combination that matches that number. My goal is that my students are familiar with the name of coins and their value by the end of the year. I love that one set of the coins is double sided, so we can talk about the images on the back of coins as well. Thank you for helping my students to strengthen their early financial literacy skills. Donors like you are our heroes!”

  • First Graders Want to Learn About Birds!

    Funded Sep 4, 2024

Thank you for your generous donation. Last week, we had our first lesson with Audubon New York. We learned about what makes birds different from other animals, and we also learned how to describe birds using field marks. This week, we will participate in a special lesson all about pigeons. One of my students is extremely excited about this lesson and he keeps asking me when the lesson is happening. In the spring, we are going to learn about migration and the challenges that birds face when they are migrating. Thank you for supporting my students!”

  • First Graders Want to Have a SPUDtacular Character Parade!

    Funded Sep 26, 2024

Thank you so much for your extremely generous donation! Thanks to you, we were able to make puppets and hats with the brown cardstock, white cardstock, and bamboo sticks that you provided. The sticks are so cool since they enabled us to make larger puppets. I was even able to use the brown cardstock you helped us get to cover up the yardstick that I am using for my huge Potato Pants puppet. I know that the parents in my class are relieved that everything was made in class! Our potato pants props for the Character Parade are going to be huge hits! My students absolutely adored making these props! Thank you for supporting my students! Donors like you are spudtacular!”

  • First Graders Need Books About Elephants!

    Funded Sep 22, 2024

Thank you for your extremely generous donation! We had an amazing time today at the Great Elephant Migration exhibition! We looked at the elephants, touched the elephants, and sketched the sculptures. Thanks to you, we were able to build our background knowledge about elephants with the fantastic book that you helped us get. We learned how to tell Asian and African elephants apart. We learned about trunks and what elephants eat. Thank you for providing a book that enriched my students' trip experience. We appreciate your generosity! Donors like you are our heroes!”

  • First Graders Need Math Materials!

    Funded Sep 29, 2024

Thank you for your very generous donation! The magnetic board will be used daily during our morning math time. Each day, we count how many days that we have been in school. We use magnetic coins to figure out a coin combination based on the number of the day. The double sided counters will be used for take home addition math games that will show different ways to make combinations of 10. Thank you for helping my students learn beginning coin recognition and financial literacy! Thank you for strengthening our math skills! We appreciate your help!”

Thank you so much for your very generous donation! My students love the magnetic coins! I love them so much that I I want to order more sets, so we can figure out more ways to make coin combinations of a given number. I am excited that my students are getting early exposure to financial literacy! I am going to put together math game packets for kids to be able to play at home soon with the other materials that you donated. Thank you so much for supporting my students! • Carnegie Hall- Here We Come!

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you for your generous donation! We will begin our lessons about world music in November, but I didn't want to wait until then to thank you! Thanks to you, we have books that will enhance our learning about songs from specific regions. We have stories and folktales from 6 different places around the world. We also now have a gourd rattle that will be used when we learn Native American social dances. I am so excited about this program and honored that my class was chosen to participate in it. Thank you so much for your generous donation!”

  • First Graders Need Supplies!

    Funded Aug 31, 2024

Thank you for your extremely generous donation! Thanks to you, my students have been able to use spacers to remind them to put spaces in between words when they are writing. These spacers look like astronauts and are much sturdier than a popsicle stick. You also made it possible for us to get a few boxes of flair pens. We use these pens instead of pencils. We use them daily for writing and drawing. We use them to help us solve math problems. Thank you for all your support. We are grateful for your generosity!”

  • Kindergarteners Want to Celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day!

    Funded May 7, 2024

Thank you for your extremely generous donation. Today was Talk Like a Pirate Day and we had a blast! We loved dancing to pirate songs while wearing our pirate hats. My students were excited to bring their eye patches home! We loved choosing which stickers we wanted to use to make a pirate themed animal. Thank you for bringing joy to my students! I had extras and I shared them with students in a self-contained class. Their teacher said that the students in her class had an incredible time. You are a treasure!”
