First Graders Need Graphic Novels!
Funded Oct 4, 2024Thank you so much for your extremely generous donation! My students were excited to see the new books when they came back from Thanksgiving break! They were especially excited about the Pea, Bee, and Jay books which chronicle the adventures of a pea, a bee, and a blue jay! They were also excited to look books from the Pizza and Taco books. These books are above many of the students' reading abilities at the moment, but as we learn more phonics rules, more students will be able to read them independently. They are still able to enjoy and comprehend the books since they are graphic novels. Thank you for your generosity! I know that these books will become beloved favorites of ours! Donors like you are our heroes!”

Bookworms Need a New Bookcase
Funded Aug 14, 2024Thank you for your extremely generous donation. I ended up realizing that I measured the width of the bookcase, but not the height! The bookcase I originally wanted, was really meant for toddlers! Luckily, I realized my mistake in time and I was able to cancel the order and get classroom supplies. Additionally, I was able to get a bookcase from someone who was getting rid of their bookcase. Thanks to you, I was able to order flair pens, paper towels, and Sharpie markers. We use the flair pens daily for writing, illustrating, and solving math problems. I wanted to send you some of the writing and drawing we did with these pens. Thank you again for all your help. Funded Nov 1, 2024Thank you for your generous donation! We will use the addition expression cards in our upcoming addition strategies unit. These cards are essential for the lessons in the book, but they aren't provided to the school. I used the consonant, vowel, consonant magnets yesterday with a small group of students. They closed their eyes, picked out a magnet, tapped out the sounds, and wrote the word. They had lots of fun while practicing encoding their sounds. I am looking forward to using more of the materials that you provided. Thank you for supporting my students! We appreciate your kindness!”

First Graders Need Phonics Books!
Funded Oct 27, 2024Thank you for your very generous donation! Next week, I am going to be teaching my students the floss telling rule. I am excited to read the Floss book that you helped us get! In this book, the letters F, L, S and Z are excited to build new words! After they grow weary of building CVC words, they go an adventure that teaches them about the FLOSS Rule. With the help of a special companion, they learn how to double their letters at the end of one syllable words with a short vowel. Thank you for supporting my students!”
