You probably have the luxury of going to the zoo, museums, or local aquarium. Most of my students do not get to leave their community. They have little exposure to real world connections. They often don't know what type of animals are out there, what an ocean looks like, or where milk comes from. I want to engage my students through reading to help make connections and give them exposure to the real world. The kids at my school light up whenever I have personal photos from around the world or hands-on animal things. I want to bring a little more real world images to their reading!
