  • Distance Learning for Special Learners

    Funded Sep 10, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations for my project! This has helped me to have the supplies I need to teach virtually so that my students can learn in these difficult times. The paper and ink have made it possible for me to make copies for my students to have work in front of them, and hands on activities. They now have dry erase boards and markers that they can write on and show me their answers, just like if we were in class. They love having brand new supplies to use, and they love being able to participate! The binders were filled with work for students who can not attend on the computer because of their disabilities (or parent work schedules), and each binder was made for specific children according to their needs. This year is a struggle. There is a lot going on, a lot of extra work, and a lot of extra time spent preparing so that students can learn. But the donations to this project made it more manageable. I love teaching and I love my students. To hear them say each day that I am the best teacher ever simply warms my heart! Thank you for helping me give them this opportunity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Let Us Hear and Be Heard!

    Funded May 10, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity in funding my project! COVID-19 threw a big wrench in teaching in 2020, and it continues! But your donation helped to get my students the supplies they needed so that they could continue learning under very difficult circumstances. My students have significant learning disabilities and cognitive delays that make learning even simple tasks very difficult. Some do not speak loudly, others do not speak at all, and still others are easily distracted by anything happening around them. The headphones you helped to provide assisted them in all areas. Our quiet students could speak right into the microphone on the headphones, allowing us to hear them clearly. Nonverbal students and those who are easily distracted were able to focus on what was happening on the screen rather than what was happening around them. My students were so excited to receive such a wonderful gift, and parents were extremely grateful as well. In a high poverty district, many parents struggled to figure out how to balance home, work, and education all from home while giving their child what they need to continue progressing. These headphones took one thing off the parents' plates, and allowed my students to continue learning.”

  • Independence Supplies

    Funded May 4, 2020

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! These items will go a long way in fostering independence in my most needy student! This pandemic has changed everything we know about school, and how we even “do” school. This can help bring a little normalcy to a situation that makes no sense to this student.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • New Supplies for a New Start

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

As always, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. your generosity is so appreciated! Thank you so much for believing in me...and my students! These supplies will help get us off to a great start this year! It is my hope that these supplies get us through most of the school year!”

  • Cleanliness and Cooking

    Funded Jan 30, 2019

Thank you again for believing in me, my classroom, and our projects! I cannot wait to tell the children all the things we will be able to do now because of your generosity! We should start making lists of foods to make for the rest of the year. Oh the things they will come up with!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Adapting Books: Access for All

    Funded Oct 23, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity and donations to help this project come to life! As soon as I received the materials for this project, I got right to work printing, laminating, cutting, binding...my scissors were covered in glue from Velcro dots, and my tendinitis in my thumb flared. But it was all worth it in the end. The books I was able to adapt helped open up a new world for many of my students, who until this project were only able to point at a picture. That pointing never told me if the student even understood what I was asking, or if he pointed because he knew that's what he was supposed to do. After all, that's all he'd been able to do to participate in reading activities for years. Now my students are able to interact with books and stories, and show me what they know. It is truly a game changer.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Bathroom Dignity

    Funded Jan 8, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity and willingness to allow me to go that extra mile for my students. I don’t always know how the projects I write actually affect my students, as many are functionally non verbal and don’t really process what I do for them. But that will never stop me from doing my best for them! Thank you for helping me with that!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Social Emotional Learning: A Sense of Self

    Funded May 18, 2018

Thank you so much for your kind donations! These books are going to help my students understand their emotions better, and the art supplies will help them show what they learned about emotions. I cannot wait to get this started next year! I am so excited to see how these items help my students!”

  • Electronic Engagement Part 2

    Funded Feb 7, 2018

My school is very technological. We have Chromebooks for each student, and smart boards in every classroom. But these do not give my students the access to education that they so desperately need. My students need to be able to completely interact with technology and what they are learning. These tablets have helped with that! In conjunction with the hands on games for the tablets, my students have flourished! I have non-verbal students who have made sounds and started humming along with the apps. I have such high hopes for their continued success into next year when they can start out with these much needed resources, and have the whole year to grow with them!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Learning Life Skills

    Funded May 7, 2018

Thank you so much for your continued support of my classroom! I was sure this project would not get funded because I had been so lucky with donations throughout the rest of the year. I am forever grateful for everything we have been given this year, and I cannot wait to get started making materials for next year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.
