Can You See Me Now?
Funded Dec 14, 2016It was such a joy to be able to have the eye doctor and his team visit our school. The students were nervous but excited to be pulled from class to see him. Some kids had never had an eye exam before and they didn't know what to expect. After their eye exam they got to try on lots of sample glasses, you could see them excited as they posed in the mirror and checked out how they would look.
About 3 weeks later, a different doctor visited us, this time with the students glasses! When I went to pull the kids from their classes some of them literally jumped for joy. We had a photo session of them wearing their new glasses and you could tell they really loved them. Besides looking great the kids were shocked that they now could read things across the room. Many were asking to test each other and running around now able to read the text in a classroom.
There was a group of 6th grade girls who summed it up best when they burst into song with "I can see clearly now the rain is gone, I can see all obstacles in my way." Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing my students to be able to see and to remove one obstacle from their life.”

Funded Jun 25, 2016The track team is excited about their uniforms. When they put them on to practice they feel energized and excited. We had a long discussion about how winners of track meets wear these uniforms and they are excited to look like winners now. The kids have their first track meet coming up and can't wait to show off the uniforms.
The team will be racing on Marathon Friday in the kids run, and on Marathon Sunday a short 1.8 mile run. They can't wait to wear the new uniforms!
The kids send along their gratitude and felt so excited that other people bought uniforms for them. We can't thank you enough!”

Funded Feb 17, 2015This resource was a wonderful gift to me. I enjoyed receiving all of the books and am working my way through reading them. I have already been inspired by some of the stories in the books and shared that inspiration with my students. In others I learned new instructional strategies.
These resources have impacted my students because they are seeing my inspired self in the classroom as well as benefiting from new instructional strategies in the classroom. Their favorite has been Whole Brain Teaching and they enjoyed trying this new way of learning in the classroom.
The students have even enjoyed looking at the books which are set up in the classroom and picking which one I should read next and if any of their other teachers should read one of the books they write a note and bring them the book.
Thank you for this resource for myself which is helping my students.”

Funded Aug 26, 2014My students went and had a once in a lifetime experience that activated a love of learning in them. The students were able to sleep over at the museum under the giant whale in the ocean life room. They were also able to hold starfish, see spiders, and explore the museum by flashlight. They watched a 3D movie and heard a bedtime story. In the morning they had breakfast, hung out with Teddy Roosevelt and traveled home. The students were thankful throughout the night and when we had moments 1-1 they would talk about the nice people who helped pay for their trip and how they were really having fun. They posed for pictures knowing they would be shared with you guys and they were excited to show off their good time.
My students walked away from this experience having a great time but also learning a larger life lesson that there are great people in the world who will help them if they ask. My students learned about being grateful and appreciative but they also go to have an experience that they could not afford on their own.
We are grateful to you for giving us a chance to go.”

Creating a Whiteboard
Funded Mar 29, 2014Thank you for your help in getting us supplies for our white board. The students are very excited about the board. They were touched that there are kind people in the world that want to help our class.
The students were very enthusiastic the first time we got to watch a video and were able to see it clearly on our new white board. The students were pointing out details in the videos that they have never been able to see before.
The students also love writing on the board now and talk about how they need extra math problems to do up there.
Thank you again.”

Someplace to Put Their Books
Funded Mar 20, 2014We opened up the box and the children got so excited for their new seat sacks. We set them up and filled them with all the clutter that normally is on their desks. Their desks are now wide open with plenty of room for them to work. The students say that their desks look cleaner now. We are so excited to have these seat sacks to help make our classroom more organized. When working with special education students it is best when everything has a place as these students flourish with clear guidelines and expectations. The seat sacks have given their stuff a clear place to go. I look forward to using these for many years to come.”
