I teach 9th grade English and 9th grade Composition at a public charter school in South Los Angeles. As a team, the 9th grade teachers place a lot of emphasis on literacy and we create programs and activities that promote reading for pleasure. Personally in my classroom, I focus on inquiry-based learning methods and collaborative learning to increase engagement and curiosity and to put the ownership of learning on the student.
