I get the privilege of working with ESL students everyday. In many ways, these students are typical kids. They are fun and full of joy and laughter. They love books, puzzles, and new pencils. Life is not always easy for my students. The majority of my students are from low socioeconomic households and face numerous struggles each day. They come from families that are not always able to provide supplies or academic assistance. School is the center of the community providing so much more than just an education. It provides breakfast and lunch to every kid. It is a place where they learn that hard work and perseverance pays off. Given all of the challenges my students face each day, my hardworking ESL class comes to school every day with a smile on their faces and love of learning in their hearts. It is very simple, my students LOVE school.
