Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that has lines or images that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking, which allows for multiple originals. I will be having the students paint watercolors on acrylic panels treated with gum arabic. Then using the printing press, we will transfer the image onto watercolor paper. In this process the students will be practicing painting from images of animals, flowers, and historical art pieces. Right now I have very minimal amount of art materials to be able to give my students a well rounded artist education. With this etching press, I will be able to introduce one of my loves of art, print making. I have a strong background in print making and I am unable to expose my students to this artistic world in a meaningful way without materials. Linocut is a printmaking technique where a design is cut into a linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shaped chisel or gouge, with the raised areas representing a reversal of the parts to show printed. With my students, I will be using scratch foam that the students will impress their designs into to print from to create a multiple copy project as well.
