Table Talks

My students and I use our tables daily. Our curriculum encourages us to use student to student discourse to help foster students learning. Recently, we had a partner work where students had to create a poster to explain their reasoning. The tables worked great for the activity. Giving students a designated partner to work with and their own room on their table for work space helped tremendously.

When my students first saw the tables they were ecstatic! They were happy to still have the options to be in groups to have discourse without having 4 or 5 other people at their table.

Within the next few weeks I am planning a project were students will work in a partner to complete a problem. After completing a problem they will come together and discuss the problem further and complete a poster with the correct answers and work shown.
