  • Charge Us Up!

    Funded Mar 26, 2025

Thank you for your generous donation to our students! We appreciate your support in helping them with their tech needs! Keeping a device charged is sometimes more than they can manage to remember and having a portable charger will help teachers give students a boost so they can engage in their classwork on their iPads.

    Thank you!”

  • A Book Fair in Our Classroom

    Funded Nov 15, 2024

Thank you! Most of the books already arrived and I was able to give some of them out already. The students were SO surprised to hear that people from the larger community had purchased books for them. It is so wonderful to see the students realize that they are connected to people outside of the school who care about and support their learning.

If you gave to this project because you remember the joy of the book fair for yourself, please know that you gave that joy to a child today. Thank you for your gift!”

  • Interactive Notebooks Make Interactive Students

    Funded Sep 9, 2024

Thank you for providing our classroom materials! We have had so many new (and returning) students this year who need school supplies and it makes such a difference to be able to supply the classes with what they need. Students needed everything we got-- notebooks, glue, tape, stickers (for motivation:), and printer paper. If you are not in a public school on a regular basis, these needs may seem very basic. They are. But the families are not able to spare the money for these materials, so being able to provide these things in class makes things run more smoothly. Thank you for helping us!”

  • Gobs of New Graphic Novels!

    Funded Sep 8, 2024

Thank you for donating books to our classroom! It is wonderful to have books that students can access when they are learning a new language. Graphic novels give our new English Language Learners a chance to choose a book that looks appealing (New books! Beautiful books! Books with character their same age! Books in Spanish!) and when books are appealing, students have an easier time finding one they want to read.

Thank you for understanding and taking action to welcome our new students to our school by providing the supplies that make their education a tiny bit easier. Students have been so excited to read the new graphic novels and we, as teachers, feel supported through your gift.

    'Til next time!”

  • Boards to Make Me Mobile!

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Thank you for purchasing these white boards for our classrooms. Having these resources available for us has allowed us to use them in our small group work, addressing individual student needs in a more effective way. Using the boards gives us a space to put up directions, materials, and to display student work. All of these structures help students both know what to do and to move toward English language development.

With our current budget cuts, items like this are beyond our school means and we are so grateful to be able to have support from community members like you to help make our classrooms run more effectively.

    Thank you again,”

  • September Needs a Smart Start

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

Thank you for supplying us with the basics to help our students start the year off right. Even now a few months later, we are still using them to re-supply our pencil cases, notebooks, headphones, etc. And we always have new English Language Learners arriving to our school who need new supplies. It is such a help to be able to provide these new students (and continuing students who need some help to bulk up their supplies) with the items that help them be ready for learning.

Your gracious and generous gifts pave the way for us to focus on language learning with students who are now truly ready to learn.”

  • Supplies Set Us Up for Success

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

Having supplies ready to distribute to our new students has helps their transition to New York tremendously. As they adjust to a new language, a new school. and a new city, being able to have their school supplies takes out a huge obstacle and lets us get into learning English quickly. Thank you for your support in getting our students ready for school. In the midst of our day to day work with newcomers, we appreciate the community support!

Thank you for always keeping us included in your generosity.”

  • Books in Our Home Language Make Us Feel at Home

    Funded Nov 18, 2022

Having books in Spanish available to our newcomer students has made the world of difference to us as a school. This year we have welcomed more students in a shorter period than I can ever remember in years past. It has been a constant flow of activity getting these students registered and involved in our school community. Being able to have books in their home language has helped us bridge the gap between what they're experiencing now in the U.S. with what they already know from their lives in other places. They light up when they see that they can borrow a book in Spanish! They recommend books to one another! It is a wonderful joy to see kids bond over books. Thank you!”

  • Smooth Start, Smooth Year

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you for your gift of materials for our classroom. We have had so many new students this year, from all over the world. Many of them come to New York at a time when their families are trying to figure out so many urgent details-- and school supplies are not easy to manage during a time like that. Being able to provide these supplies to our new students has helped welcome them into our school community. Your generosity helps us make our school a better place where we can more compassionately support our students.

    Thank you!”
