Students are all gifted in their own way and it’s up to me to find their gifts and soar with them. My classroom is an engaged classroom that needs more space and flexible seating to be successful. Some students have a hard time focusing due to having limited space to move around and in turn, students become disengaged in the task at hand. Whereas other students simply have sensory needs and need to move constantly to stay engaged. Whether gifted, autistic or energetic, my students love to move, act things out or sing and dance to show what they’ve learned and I want to give them the power to do that more. Hokki stools, balance ball chairs, and hanging chairs will create, motivation, movement, improve students' posture and much more. Research shows physical activity improves learning capabilities. Movement and engagement go together making learning fun and memorable. This type of seating will free up space for S.T.E.M. projects. Student based learning will be in full effect with engagement at the core. I will have more space to move around the room meeting with my students to conference with them about their projects, writing, reading, etc. Introverted students that are afraid to speak up and participate in discussions will be able to share their thoughts because they will feel more comfortable in their own learning space. Research shows that childhood obesity continues to rise due to a lack of physical activity. Movable seats will lead to better concentration. Calories will be burned while learning is taking place. Students will train their bodies to use better posture and breathing without even knowing it. Students learn differently and have different needs whether they are kinesthetic or bodily spatial needs. Your donation will help each child have what they need to reach academic success!
