Ours is a high poverty, inner-city school found in Ogden, Utah. Most of the students are ESL, which adds a new dimension to teaching. Allowing students to read the multiple meanings and decipher for themselves which is the correct meaning for the given situation, opens doors to new understanding. Multiple times during the day students are confused and unclear when writing, speaking, or reading. Dictionaries available in the classroom allows students to clarify meaning and therefore opening windows of understanding.
