Aquaponics for the Win!
Funded Sep 29, 2018Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the generous donation of our aquaponics system! The students love it, and were floored to learn that someone donated because they love science as much as we do. They couldn't believe that someone who doesn't even know them would care enough to make a donation for them! That is special in itself!
The aquaponics system has been used in various science lessons, as well as everyday lessons. Students are responsible for keeping the water clean, feeding the fish and caring for the plants. We've used the system when talking about ecosystems and habitats. The students think it's "so cool" and I'd have to agree, it's been such a great addition to our classroom and it's a wonderful hands on tool. Not only have we gotten use out of the system, but other classrooms as well!
The fish and plants are thriving and my students are gaining hands on experience, knowledge and responsibility. We are so lucky to have had someone take interest in our classroom and our project. You've truly made an impact on our classroom, not just because we get to use an aquaponics system but because my students were shown kindness. The fact that you are a scientist whom is from Omaha, and you took time to care for us, is huge for my students. Also the fact that you are a woman, and a scientist and able to make such a generous donation, was an impact on my female students because they see that they are capable of doing anything they set their minds to.
Thank you so much from myself and my students!”

Simple Supplies
Funded Aug 7, 2018I can't thank you enough for the generous donation to our supplies project. Your donation is helping students be success throughout our entire school year. Many of my students families are unable to purchase their own supplies. Because of you, my students have everything they need!
We use our notebooks everyday for reading, writing, math, science and social studies. Students even have a notebook for personal journals. We have enough crayons, colored pencils and markers for students to use on projects. They have a supply of pencils that will last them to the end of the school year. It really is amazing how quickly students go through pencils! They have folders to keep their work in and to take home homework and important papers. We have age appropriate scissors! You have no idea how exciting that is!
Your donation went to new quiet pencil sharpeners (amazing!), rulers to use in math. We now have expo markers, erasers, and personal white boards to collaborate with our peers and to have an alternative to paper and pencil while doing group work. We have tissues, cleaning products and hand sanitizer! I was probably most excited about these items, we always have tissues for running noses and the products to be sure we all don't get sick.
Your donation didn't go to just one lesson or project, it went toward a years worth of projects! That is the most wonderful gift. My students are able to focus on the important things rather than worry about things they don't have.
Their faces lit up when they saw all the amazing items they received and they continue to get excited every time we use a new item from the donation.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you! Your impact has been and will continue to be huge in my fourth grade classroom.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. S.
