• An Amazing Art Explosion!

  Thank you so much for contributing to our project. We just started receiving materials and they couldn't have come at a better time. We have 18 students creating scale models of islands they have created, so we are about to be deep in cardboard, paper mache, paint and clay. Students have already sculpted a clay house and painted it to look like it is made out of bamboo, painted their flags, and designed a rainbow currency called "Pride."

• Planning for At-Home Learning

  Thankfully, we have been able to keep our classroom open for in-person learning this whole school year. We are lucky that we have students, staff, and family who pulled together to make this a reality.

  I used the gift cards from this project in a few ways:

  1. Interventions - I have been able to purchase targeted interactive notebooks for students who have struggled more coming out of our year of virtual learning.

  2. Quarantines - I used some prepared independent work from TPT for students who were quarantined earlier this year and needed some extra work for home.

  3. Escape Rooms - In person we completed a few "Escape Rooms." A highlight was our Volcano Escape Room!

• Prepped for Painting!

  Thank you so much for donating to this art project. I can't tell you enough how much of a difference it makes to have quality supplies for art lessons. We have learned over the years that paper alone can completely change the outcome of the lesson. When paper is falling apart with water and paint, students get really frustrated and don't choose to repeat the work. In our Montessori classroom, we give students short lessons that we hope will inspire them to create big work, and repeat it.

  We have had an art explosion this year, and I know that a lot of this is because of our supplies. Students are creating beautiful, inspired, art not only for themselves, but for causes dear to their hearts.

• Mindful Mathematics Books!

  Thank you so much for supporting this project! These books have been amazing in our combined classroom, and are being used for all of our students grades 1-6. Each lesson has a visual component and outside the box creative thinking. They push and challenge our students to recognize that there isn't always one right answer, or one set path to a right answer. The students have really enjoyed the hands on elements and manipulatives. I am so excited to continue working through these lessons and see what students come up with next!”

• Montessori Math Magic

  Thank you so much for donating to this project! These materials are being used by all of our students in our combined classroom, in grades 1-6. They are loving all of the manipulatives, challenges, and pattern work. We have previously had a Roman Numeral Board that was missing pieces, but never had the task cards to go with them. These have really made it a more challenging work, and pushed students to take their basic Roman Numeral lesson further.

  The Numeral Stories work has also become a quick favorite in Upper Elementary. It is a matching work with "Who Am I?" stories that students match with numbers. There are 4 levels, and I have yet to see a student complete all 4! They get much harder, very quickly.

• Human Needs are Fundamental!

  These books and materials have been such a wonderful addition to our classroom. They are taken out and used every single day. The Julia Rothman collection of Farm Anatomy, Nature Anatomy, and Food Anatomy have especially been favorites. There is SO much to learn in them. Students do detailed drawings, have tried out some recipes, and used these as a spring board into other research. Another favorite is the Visual Encyclopedia of Transportation. One student created a giant concept web of all the different types of vehicles and turned it into a material in the classroom for other students. He made his own cards with illustrations, and students sort and classify the work on the floor. It takes up an 8 x 12 rug! Thank you for your continued support of our classroom.”

• Montessori Culture Studies: Music, History and Science!

This month has already been crazy; we have been back virtually for 2 days and will be back in person next week. • Projecting our Projects!

  Thank you so much for donating to this project. We were so excited to receive our projector and speaker. At the beginning of the school year we projected some of our Montessori "Great Lessons." The students watched videos made by our Science Specialist explaining the Beginning of the Universe, the Timeline of Life, and the Timeline of Humans. These three lessons spur so much good follow up work in the classroom! The students loved the drama of watching them on the projector and had a fabulous group experience. We also were finally able to hear it with the full dramatic effect thanks to our new speaker. Thanks so much!”
