• Talk Like a Mathematician

  We love thinking and talking like mathematicians! Students are learning to make their thinking visible by explaining how they find solutions! It is so important for students to learn how to find multiple solutions to problems and how to explain and justify their thinking. Students also are learning the important skill of respectfully disagreeing with other students. These ETA materials allow for deep mathematical discussion while providing opportunities to build skills that students need to succeed in our diverse world!”

• Library Building Kid Picks

  We love reading! I have a class FULL of ravenous readers! Thank you so much for supplying kid-approved books that my readers love! Students have a book box where they keep self-selected books that they want to read. Students shop for books at the beginning of the day, and students use the boxes filled with books during our read to self-time. The branches books are just right for students to practice the skills that we are learning in the classroom. They have engaging plots and relatable characters! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

• Making Numbers Make Sense

  Your donation has inspired students to believe that they can do difficult challenges! My students absolutely love using the materials during our math talk time. They use the number bead string to connect addition and subtraction concepts. My students made the connection and understand the commutative property by seeing how the beads represented the numbers. They were able to manipulate the items and make visual connections that helped them understand concepts quickly! My students also wanted me to tell you how much fun they have when they use the materials during math talks!”

• Thinking About Numbers: 3rd Grade Version

  Your donation has inspired students to believe that they can do difficult challenges! My students absolutely love using the materials during our math talk time. They use the array cards to create repeated addition sentences. My students made the connection from repeated addition to multiplication effortlessly. They were able to manipulate tiles and make visual connections that helped them understand concepts quickly! My students also wanted me to tell you how much fun they have when they use the materials during math talks! I even have friends asking to use the cards, tiles, and number beads for homework!

• Book Clubs for Exchanging Ideas

  These books will be devoured by our ravenous readers! It is one of my greatest joys as a teacher to see students engaged in text! These book sets will allow my students to learn the necessary skills to comprehend fiction and nonfiction books. We will then analyze and compare elements of the stories and share our learning with others! Your support is allowing students to choose titles that are interesting to them! Thank you so much!”

• Amplifying Student Voice

  Thank you so very much for funding our project! The students love using the microphones during reading, writing, and reflection time! The students love sharing their ideas and now even my softest spoken student has a voice we all can hear! The students are mastering vital speaking and listening standards using the microphones and recording headsets. They use the headsets to record reading passages on Seesaw. Parents look forward to hearing their children read and love the progress they hear!

  I plan on using the microphones, headsets, and speaker next semester for our super scientists reports! Thank you for empowering our students and supporting our classroom!”

• Independent Phonics, Spelling, and Word Study

  Thank you so much for the phonics, spelling, and word study materials! The tiles and flip books have helped many reluctant spellers find confidence in matching letters with sounds. My students enjoy using the letters to make words and then change letters to create new words. The poetry notebooks and reading theater scripts have allowed students to play with words, language, and expression. Thank you so much for supporting the love of learning! • Rockin' Robots

  This project has been an amazing example of how to use a growth mindset while learning! The Jimu Robots and Snap Circuits are high interest but demand a focus and attention to detail that can be a challenge for first grade students! The students are learning about following the logical sequential order that instructions require. We had to take several parts off of the robots and then recheck the instructions so we can rebuild again. Thank you so much for providing these materials. I find it so important to provide opportunities that stretch our abilities and reward hard work! Thank you so very much!”

• Spectacular Science Homework

  The students are SO EXCITED to have engaging homework opportunities! I know that they are going to love trying and experimenting with their families! Parents sign their child up for a week of "super science" homework instead our usual skill review homework. Students are able to try the experiment at home for a week and then return the materials along with a summary of what they learned! My goal as an educator is to inspire creativity and curiosity! These materials will help students ask questions and pursue answers! I am so excited to see how this project has lasting effects on the lives of my learners!”

• Goods and Services With Cricut Power

  Funded Oct 10, 2017

  Thank you so much for the donations to our project! We are learning so much with the Cricut that you helped fund for us! The students and I are learning how to use the Cricut to create customized goods for sale!

  At first, we tried our hand at making gifts for family members. We took our picture, uploaded the images and created silhouettes for our families! The families LOVED them! We are now working on personalizing maps, posters, and folders to sell at our class store! Thank you so much for helping us be creative and curious! We are learning so much from thinking and acting like designers and entrepreneurs! Thank you for your investment in the future generations!”
