  • Let's Get Physical!

    Funded Dec 20, 2022

The weighted balls are in a center where the students carry from one area of the classroom to another. Additionally, on rainy days when we can't get outside to walk it gives them a chance to carry them around the halls for a weighted walk. It is a great alternative for inclimate weather days.

My students are thriving with this extra structured center in my classroom. They love taking the brain break from their academic tasks throughout their day. It is a great way to have them positively exert energy throughout the day so we can focus during their educational tasks. Additionally, it has help to decrease behaviors!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coles

  • Weighted Brain Break

    Funded Mar 19, 2022

My students move the weighted balls from one bucket to the other. This provides my students with the sensory input of heavy work during their school day so they can increase their focus and engagement during academic and work tasks.

They enjoy this opportunity to be out of their area and moving about in a productive way. The heavy works stimulates their bodies and minds to prepare them for a independent, teacher directed centers and large group instructions.

It has been a great addition to our classroom schedule. Thank you for the supporT!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coles

  • Structure Fosters Engagement

    Funded Mar 4, 2022

Your support in providing these instructional boundaries have decreased behaviors of elopement and out of seat throughout my classroom. The students have learned to remain in their spaces with more independence and less prompting from adults. The students feel safer and more secure knowing their boundaries.

The structural boundaries provides them with the increased ability to focus on their activities. It has made the classroom a more productive safer environment for students and staff.

Thank you for your generosity and support with these classroom materials!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coles

  • Creative Sensory Exploration

    Funded May 5, 2020

Thank you very much for your generosity and increasing the sensory experience for my students! Unfortunately, my students will have to wait to access these resources due to COVID, but I am excited to introduce them to our new sensory library. I imagine they will be excited and itching to get to their sensory time on their schedule!

I plan on using these resources to increase their engagement through providing them the sensory input they need throughout the day. These tasks can be used as reinforcements, breaks and instructional activities to increase students communication, social and imaginative skills.

We are currently delving into the digital learning environment and exploring ways to increase engagement and participation among my students and families. This year will bring a whole new set of challenges but with it will be personal and professional growth for myself, my team and my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coles

  • Increasing Individual Attention in a Large and Busy Classroom

    Funded Aug 14, 2019

Thank you for your support of our classrooms! These dividers have changed our classroom structure and improved the quality of instruction our classroom!

It has been great to use these dividers to increase the students ability to attend to individual and small group instruction. They are more focused on the task at hand instead of looking around the classroom.

We have found creative ways to enhance our instruction by creating magnetic activities for sorting shapes and colors. The students have loved using the shapes to create new designs.

We are so appreciative of your support to make our learning environment more functional, engaging and successful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coles

  • Imagination Station: Building Critical Thinking Skills

    Funded Jul 17, 2019

Your support has been phenomenal! These supplies and materials have changed the structure of my classroom. They have given my students the opportunity to learn and practice a variety of skills such as sharing, taking turns, collaborating and imaginative play. It has been great to see the students creativity come to life when building with the tiles or roller coaster. They love watching each other build different structures and comment on their friends creations! It has been great to be able to use these materials to increase social interaction in a highly motivating activity. I am so appreciative of your support!”

  • Gross Motor: Moving Towards Strong Academics

    Funded Jun 6, 2019

We are truly grateful for your support! My students were so excited to see the trampoline and alternative seating enter the classroom. Their faces lite up with excitement and couldn't wait to try them out!

This project was funded just in time for the EOY assessments, when our schedule is modified. It provide a great alternative for our center rotation and indoor recess. It has been great to use when we can't get outside due to weather. We have created small obstacle courses for them to complete. The balance beam has helped increase their focus and balance, while the trampoline allows them to release their excess energy. These items are easy to adapt and perfect for each of my individual student's needs.

Their faces are still lighting when it is their turn to use the materials!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coles

Our goal for this project is to create a safe, fun gross motor space in our classrooms. These items will be used to help support our students in developing their gross motor and self-regulation skills, such as jumping, balancing, bouncing and appropriate calming strategies. Creating a gross motor space will allow our students to release their excess energy in an appropriate and safe way. Research has proven that when students are provided movement breaks throughout day, it increases their ability to focus, learn and teaches them self-regulation skills. We will use the PLENY mini trampoline to provide the students with a way to release their energy between academic tasks/centers. We will use the step-a-log balance beam to help our students with mobility issues learn to step up, step down and focus on their balance to increase their independence. The Trideer Balls will provide the students with the opportunity to engage their core muscles while working on academic tasks. These chairs provide the right amount of sensory input to allow students to focus on the task at hand.
