  • What Matters?!

    Funded Nov 19, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity and helping our class to have so many brand new copies of Nothing But the Truth. My students thoroughly enjoyed reading books that were not falling apart at the seams. In our classroom, the introduction of new texts has brought forth a range of valuable skills and lessons for our students. One notable aspect is the emphasis on critical thinking and analysis. This text encouraged students to delve deeper into themes, characters, and plot intricacies. It also prompted discussions that bridged the gap between literature and real-world concerns.

Throughout our reading time, students were encouraged to express their interpretations of and engage in meaningful conversations about the texts. This approach enriched their understanding but also cultivated a sense of community and collaboration. In terms of enjoyment, I've observed that particular students, often those who may have previously struggled with traditional literature, are thriving with the new books. The classroom has become a space where a broader spectrum of learners can find joy and success in the world of literature. This is largely due to your generosity. So thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • Books! Books! Books!

    Funded Nov 8, 2021

It was such a joy to receive these books in our classroom. The kids were so excited that our Donors Choose project was funded so quickly, thanks to your help!

When I brought the books down to our classroom, everyone had so much fun with the "unboxing" and looking at each of the new books/book sets. When new books like this enter our classroom, students will write their names on sticky notes and place them in the books so they know who wants to read the book after they have finished it.

Reading is a quiet peaceful time in our room. I have soft music playing in the background while students enjoy the books they have chosen for themselves. When new books arrive, there is an energy about the room and students are so happy to have some new reading materials.

    Thank you for your donations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • Let's Get Reading!

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

My class is so appreciative of the new books that they have in their hands. Who doesn't love having choices? We love to choose what we wear, what music we listen, what shows we watch - books are no different. My students want to pick texts that interest them. Because of your generosity, my students have options! They now have 6 titles to choose from and 6 different cultures to explore.

One of my students' favorite parts about these new texts, is that they are graphic novels. Students can focus on the content and appreciate the visuals that each page has to offer. My students have really appreciated working with other students and having a chance to connect during these unique times.

Thank you for considering my students needs and taking action. They are engaged in their learning and taking ownership of their education.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • Kinesthetic Learning Environment

    Funded Oct 5, 2018

It means so much to our students that you would be willing to help build our classroom environment. With your generosity, we were able to add alternative seating to our classroom. When my students saw the stools in class, they were so excited. They each wanted to give them a try, so we took turns testing out which seats worked best for which students. I have enough stools to have two at every set of table desks. The kids enjoy coming in to class early, grabbing a seat of their choosing, and setting up their desk area. We appreciate your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

A few years ago, I was awarded a grant so that I could purchase some mobility stools for my students. I was able to purchase 4 stools to share amongst class sizes that range from 25 - 38 students. Currently, my students will race to my room, taking two sets of books with them sometimes, just so that they can get one of the four mobility stools. Because my classroom is set up in six table groups, I would like to purchase 8 more mobility stools so that I can place two stools in every group. The stools are very beneficial to my students by keeping them active even while they are just sitting. Please consider helping my students!
