Funded Mar 22, 2014My students were overjoyed when we received our tablets! They were always asking for updates on where we were at funding wise. When they returned from Spring Break and I was able to share the news with them about our tablets being funded they were amazed. When the boxes arrived the students could not wait for the tablets to be open, charged, and set up.
The students were able to utilize the tablets to work on individual areas that they were struggling in. We used websites such as Study Island, IXL, and Math Playground to refine and practice our standards while preparing for State testing. The students and I enjoy being able to stay in our classroom to access technology instead of having to relocate to the library or computer lab. Being able to have each group have access to a tablet was extremely helpful in days when we were working collaboratively. Other days, they were used for small group reteaching as well as aiding students in working ahead on their standards. The students are currently using the tablets to create wordles for their end of the year project. I look forward to being able to continue to utilize these tablets in the coming years.
As a teacher it is a challenge to incorporate technology into lessons due to limited technological resources. I enjoy being able to allow my students to connect our math concepts to real world situations, technology allows this in a variety of ways. Students today are technologically savvy. Most however, use technology for social media and video games. Being able to use the tablets in our Math class has allowed them to explore learning through a medium that they enjoy and are familiar with. I know that these tablets have already been beneficial to my students and myself. I know this will continue to be the case for my future students and future math lessons. Thank you merely is not enough for your thoughtfulness and donations that you all have shared with us. Keep supporting your future through education, it makes a difference.”

Funded Mar 23, 2014When the boxes of supplies arrived the students were extremely curious, as we began to open them and unpack them this growth could not wait for us to begin our testing review so they could utilize their new stuff. I still hear about how much they enjoyed the review activities and prizes.
My students thoroughly loved and enjoyed being able to review for state testing in such a variety of ways. We were able to utilize the connect four and the basketball goal to provide challenge and fun into our question and answer review. The students were readily awaiting their turn and working to solve problems even when it was not their turn. The students enjoyed competing as teams and individuals, they moaned and groaned when the bell would ring. Surely, do not let there be a tie or they were all on pins and needles as they encouraged the next student hoping to get a gain on the other team. The students were also able to earn raffle tickets for a chance to visit the treasure chest to receive a carnival game prize.
Being able to provide the students with a multifaceted review allowed them to prepare for state testing with out being bored or stressed out. It built their confidence as they realized just how much they had learned and retained throughout the school year. The students were able to play and learn simultaneously. It brought out their competitiveness, which in turn had them constantly putting forth their best effort. I am excited to be able to allow my future students to have this same experience.”
