Life on Mars
Funded Jan 11, 2023Thank you for your support. I am always amazed by the support so many people have blessed my classroom with. My out of the box ideas are the activities that always leave the biggest impact in years passed and I am sure a trip to Mars will make that cut. Thank you again!”

STEM at their fingertips!
Funded Sep 1, 2022Your donations have put creativity, learning and exploring at my student's fingertips. We utilize these materials almost daily through recess, practicing reading skills, building structures and playing games. My fourth grade students love to compete and compare in creating LEGO structures with a variety of "cool" features.
Having the interactive materials stored in the classroom with easy access keeps the students motivated to complete their assignments and stay focused so they can utilize these fun materials.
We have a ton of future activities and projects plans this school year that will build on their learning and exploring. Thank you for being a part of this engaging opportunity.”

Funded Nov 11, 2021Your contributions to our classroom library and the activities you provided have impacted my students growth mindset, team skills, empathy and willingness to be better humans. The books have been added to our classroom library and are used to introduce monthly value lessons. My students have fallen in love with many of the captivating characters and stories. The Lego ducks were a hit! Such a hit that I forgot to take pictures. I look forward to starting the following school year with this activity. The unique ducks each student made was an excellent example of our exceptionalities and uniqueness. We thank you for your generous donations. Enjoy the pictures our school year thus far.
As a class, we are consistently reminded:
-We can do hard things!
-We are all unique!
-We are responsible for our actions!
-We should always be a good friend!”

Taking Reading Comprehension Out of The "BOX"
Funded Feb 15, 2019The materials that your donation provided have made a great impact in teaching and learning in our class. We have used the materials to create charts, have interactive lessons, show mastery and express creativity. In some of the pictures I have shared, the students used colored masking tape to create a visual representation of various vocabulary words. The student's loved getting out of their seats, working together and utilizing an uncommon material to express their understanding of their vocabulary word. Thank you for helping me take reading comprehension out of the "box" and make learning fun and different.”

Plan! Create! Motivate! Share!
Funded Oct 24, 2018A huge thank you for your generosity. Your contribution has impacted my students creativity, curiosity and motivation to excel. Since we have received the tablets we have used them to research, explore, record and share. We have barely unlocked the potential of these tablets in class. You can see their reaction to the reveal of our Amazon order in the first picture shared.
The pictures I have shared are mostly from a full day catapult project we completed in November. Let me set the scene: Groups of 3 to 4 students had to research various catapult designs on YouTube using the tablets. Next, they had to draw and design their catapult using a spoon, Popsicle sticks, rubber bands, toothpicks, paper clips and index cards. The tablets were used again to document 3 launches of pumpkin candy corns and share their best launch on our class See Saw page. Of course measuring, documenting, comparing and reflecting was involved. But the students definitely enjoyed watching their launches in slow motion.
Our upcoming plans are to create Paper Slide Shows and record our Black History Month presentations using these wonderful tablets. It is because of you that my students will be able to take what they've learned and experienced this school year with them into their future and beyond.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Chevron Fuel Your School and 7 other donors.Virtual Field Trips
Funded Aug 13, 2015Your contribution has opened up a world of exploration and knowledge to the students at Melrose Elementary School. We are truly grateful for your generosity in funding this project which is bringing information and experiences straight to my student's fingertips. Because of your kindness the students have created amazing representations of the knowledge they have acquired during the Virtual Field Trips.
The tablet that was purchased by funding this project is a hot commodity among the students. They love having the opportunity to leave their seats and retrieve information or tasks from the QR codes around the Media Center. The QR codes are generated online and placed around the Media Center. After scanning the code the students are directed to information and video sites on the specific topic. As an educator, this project has provided the classroom teacher with additional support and the students with specific resources that are appropriate for the topic that is being introduced.
I look forward to the continuous use of the materials and observing the sparks of knowledge and ideas in the students at Melrose Elementary School. Every new experience opens a new opportunity to these underprivileged students.
Thank you again for funding the Virtual Field Trips project.

Virtual Learning and Teaching with Paper Slide Shows
Funded Oct 22, 2014My students and I are so grateful for your donations. Your donations have enabled the students involved to really educate those around them. We began with simple Paper Slide Shows like, How to check out library books, How to get ready for school and How to put words in ABC order. These paper slide shows will become a resource for all teachers and students in our school and beyond the classroom to reference. The students creating these paper slide shows take so much pride and ownership in them. They are so proud that they have an impact in other students understanding and education.
The items that were purchased through your donations have been a great resource and motivation to my "Future Educators of America" students. Understanding they could impact the education of other students was a motivation on its own...but knowing that these paper slide shows can become viral and educate beyond the classroom has been their biggest accomplishment.
The digital cameras that were purchased are very easy to use and operated by the students. They love the ownership they have in each paper slide show they create. Please follow us on Facebook, Pinterest and Youtube by searching for Melrose Elementary. The paper slide shows that you have invested in will be available there and shared with so many. Thank you again for investing in so much of our future!”
