  • EYElab Sketchbook Project: R&D Lab for Creativity

    Funded Sep 4, 2020

    Thank you very much for your contributions to my classroom. Because I've been teaching remotely and students all require individual supplies due to the Covid-19 pandemic, my aim with this project was for my students to have some personal sketchbook supplies. They use these supplies to create their sketchbook assignments in.

    Students have been so surprised and grateful to our donors to have been able to get their sketchbook supplies. In art history, we have used them to create hands-on projects such as meditative drawing, drawing hands, creating sketches for 3D amulets and also to draw sections of artworks that we've been studying. In Digital/Illustration they have been using them to create illuminated letters, borders and prototype books to illustrate poetry they've written.

    Next steps for projects in these classes are, for Art History, to design their own virrtual exhibit and in Digital/Illustration to do final books/polished pieces for their poetry.”

  • Zine-palooza: Creating Illustrated Mini-Memoirs

    Thank you so much for your kind donations to my project "Zine-palooza: Creating Illustrated Mini-Memoirs". These materials were very motivating to my students and they created fabulous zines with them. My artist/scholars truly enjoy the many colors and professionalism of the Arteza markers and the beautiful fine lines they can create with their Pitt pens. These materials are professional level and my students feel proud to use them and amazed at the results they are able to get with them.

    Additionally, having these materials has enabled our art program at HS for Contemporary Arts to expand and win awards. Specifically, we were able to initiate Advanced Placement Art for the past two years. Our artist/scholars have won awards every year, including the Jack Ezra Keats book arts award (city-wide), the PS Art contest (collaboration between NYC Dept of Education and the Metropolitan Museum of Art), the Morgan Book Project (citywide) and the Bronx Borough Art Fair.

    I hope that you will continue to support our wonderful artist/scholars in their quest to create outstanding art.”
