  • Baskets of Gratitude and Compassion

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our "Baskets of Gratitude and Compassion" project! Because of you, my students were able to experience the joy of giving back to their community in a meaningful way.

With the food, snacks, hygiene products, and baskets you provided, my students worked together to assemble and distribute care packages for families in need this winter. This hands-on project taught them invaluable lessons about empathy, compassion, and the power of helping others. Watching their excitement and pride as they worked on these baskets was heartwarming and a true testament to the positive impact of your kindness.

This project not only helped us provide much-needed support to families in our community but also created an opportunity for my students to grow as individuals. They've learned that small acts of kindness can have a significant ripple effect, and they've carried this lesson with them beyond the classroom.

Your support has made a lasting difference—not just in the lives of those we served but also in the hearts and minds of my students. Thank you for being a part of this journey and for helping us spread gratitude and compassion this season. You are truly appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dani Smith

  • Fulfill Needs, Boost Confidence, and They Will Engage!

    Funded Jun 4, 2024

Clothing is a fundamental need that can significantly impact a student's well-being and academic success. The clothing in the Resource Closet is often quickly utilized and requires regular restocking to support our students.

Ensuring that students' basic needs are fulfilled is vital for their focus on learning.

Thank you so much for your support! Our students appreciate everything that is given to them, and it is often so much needed. Each student has the ability to get what they need and whenever they need it from our closet. This makes things so much easier for us.”

Every student is unique in terms of educational background, learning ability, and interest in school. But it is also affected by other factors such as the student’s socioeconomic status, home life, and personal or learning challenges. My challenge is to educated my kids that haven't been successful in a regular school setting, often due to behavior issues or policy violations. The Central Academy is a Title I school and services students in grades 6-12 and most students will stay on average of 20-45 days in length; however, they are highly likely to return when sent back to their "home" school as they often repeat the behaviors. There is often 40-60 students in the building enrolled, but with rotation, each teacher will possibly see up to 350 students prior to the end of the year.
