Academic Supplies to Build Successful Learning Experiences Needed
Funded Aug 2, 2023Thank you so very much for helping to bring these wonderful resources into our classroom!
When our students first saw the new materials they were amazed that people who did not know them were unconditionally investing in their education. And, I can not Thank You enough for this joy.
We have begun to use all of the different resources and our students are now able to annotate in multiple color-coded ways, highlight new information they are learning, and differentiate between assignments based on the colored paper it is printed on! This has allowed the students to really figure out what works best for them.
In addition to that, the markers have been a great way for our students to create more anchor and reminder charts for our classroom! Having all these different colors in the classroom has led to a rise in student engagement
The lollipops and stickers have also been a smashing hit at motivating our students.
Our students now keep their pens, pencils, earbuds, highlighters, erasers, and white-out in their pencil case – no more worrying about losing their utensils or any other item they choose to keep there. These tools have allowed the students to become more focused in class and bring their learning to the next level!
To some these resources may be a "little thing," but to our babies, it has been a blessing and a weight off their and their parents' shoulders. Thank you again for your contributions!"”

Funded Oct 24, 2017This has been a most interesting school year for our school and we can not thank you enough for all you have given us this year as it was more than just the donated materials.
My students, like most pre-teens, are creatures of habits who learned how to stop their daily routines in order to appreciate the unconditional care strangers sent them just when they needed it most. You see, this is the last year for our school as we will be merging with another school at our campus come September 2018 and they've been a bit sad. But, every time I brought in a box into the room, every voice stopped, I had all eyes on me and the air seemed to dance with magic – was it a Donor's Choose box? Was it for them? Did they remember us? And then with a rip of tape their world burst into cheers and all was well once more. For that I will forever be eternally in your debt.
I can not begin to tell you the impact your generosity has had on our students and their studies this school year so far. I have watched my students become more verbose and creative when expressing their thoughts through the curriculum. They share the roles of team leaders and plan out their studies and shared work in their notebooks with later displaying their work on the Dry erase boards. I swear we have so many expo-dry erase markers you'd think they never use pens or pencils. Our room is decorated in chart paper which is covered in colored paper with another correlation to whatever had been written on the original chart paper as a couple post-it notes hang on for dear life, with yet another argument to the conversations.
In math and science, our students have been able to print and create different grids and formulas on different colored papers and then, match-up where their math and science mathematics merged. The creative art work which is accompanying our students' writing has allowed them to express themselves more freely as they prepare for the new challenges and adventures for the next year.
And, none of this would have been possible without you and your donation and, we are, and always will be, eternally grateful.”

Funded Aug 31, 2017I can not begin to explain what your assistance in funding this project has meant to my students and myself, there simply are not enough words; particularly now when the cold weather has reached our part of the States.
As you can see from the pictures, our school functions until late afternoon (afternoon tutoring and clubs' programs) and, recently we had a powdering of the "amazing white stuff" which was enjoyed by all.
Previously many of our students opted to stay home or come to school later in the day when the temperatures warmed. Thanks to your donations we were able to provide our students with the means to keep warm as our weather cooled and, we saw an improvement in our attendance. This improvement in attendance meant that early classes, which tend to be math and science, saw a higher student participation which also impacted the enrollment in our afterschool tutoring programs and improvement in grades. AND, participation in our extra-curricular clubs (knitting, math lab, science lab, robotics, basketball and cheer-leading squads) doubled as lips were protected from the cold, scarves and hats kept little heads and chests warm and finally but not least, our budding young ladies, had proper absorbent protection.
Our teachers were also able to pool saved funds to assist some of our most needing families with other essential needs. This year, and thanks to you, we were able to double the number of families which received emergency food baskets and coats as the temperatures dropped.
Most importantly, our students learned about the locations where our donors came from and learned that you do not have to know a person to assist them in bettering themselves and the opportunity for a better future and, for that, we will be eternally grateful to you and Donors Choose.”

Funded Jan 6, 2017I can not begin to tell you the impact your generosity has had on our students and their studies this school year so far. I have watched my students become unburdened by need and become creatively free. Their writing is no longer restricted by the number of pages or colors they could use. It is amazing what an extra notebook or pencil or marker can do when creativity is involved and cost is no longer a restriction.
In math and science, our students have been able to use grid appropriate sheets to measure out and plot geometric shapes and the results of labs rather than creating free-hand grids. The art work which is accompanying our students' writing has allowed us, the adults who surround these wonderful youngsters, to get a glimpse into their creative world, the colors being used to make a point or to pinpoint attention to their writing pieces, have all been possible because of you and those amazing marker packs donated to us.
Our students now have individual vocabulary notebooks that they use as they discover new words both in their native-home language and their new-home language, English. The ability of being able to write down new words, their meaning and original use of those words, have literally brought tears to our eyes because now, they pull their vocabulary notebooks at every turn, in every subject, without worrying of running out of pages in their class notebooks.
It may seem little to some but to us, their teachers and their parents, it is an amazing sight to witness the value these beautiful pre-teen babies, my babies, place on the gift you have given them. And, for that, I can not thank you enough.”

Help our Students Live a Thousand Lives Through Books
Funded Aug 4, 2014I am writing to thank you for your generous donation to our bridge 6th & 8th grade class.
It has been awesome to watch as my students reach for their books and light up during "class reading discussions time". The light that twinkles in their eyes as they tell their peers about vampire Vlad's conflicts or the emotions they felt as they read "Bajo la misma estrella (The Fault in Our Stars)". Their talking points have certainly been impressive as each strives to bring a new point to our discussions.
I was even happier to hear them discussing the movies made or coming out about their books and, how they prefer the books. I can't begin to explain how proud I became when they took a vote and the books beat out the movies unanimously.
Without your donations, none of this would be possible and there are not enough words for me to express my gratitude or that of my students for taking a chance on us and helping them reach for the reading stars. Thank you so much.”
With gratitude,
Ms. M. Diaz (M322)
