My English Language Learners need hands-on, engaging materials to use during their STEM block. In order to promote higher level, critical thinking, our school has set aside a specific time for our students to explore STEM activities weekly. These magnetic blocks will allow my English Language Learners to use their imaginations to plan, create, test and reimagine if needed. For K5 students, STEM activities provide a foundation for future learning in science, technology, engineering, and math. K5 bilingual students learn best through doing. These materials will give them a choice in learning, which will be meaninful for them and promote higher level thinking skills.
