All students help out with classroom jobs which they have applied for and help each other out whenever there is a need. With your help we can provide students with a little token.   • Calming Corners Around the Classroom!

    It has been great to give students options in our class. It's been some time since students were in a classroom full time and for some, it's taking some adjusting. Some students need extra calming strategies and it's nice to have a location in our classroom where they can take a minute. Students appreciate having the freedom to move around the room when they need to gather their thoughts. I appreciate being able to offer incentives to students on task.   • Reading Is Me: Classroom Library

    Students in our classroom have been enjoying their new books these past few months. We have established a classroom library and students "check out" their chosen books and then "check back in". I have seen students recommended books to each other after they have read a loved book. It's been great to see students reach for a book from their desk during silent read time. Students really enjoy this time of the day. I am beyond grateful for the way our classroom library is shaping up. I feel all students are on their way to finding a "just right book".

Children are asking to read all about it. Our classroom library needs some updating. This year, we walked into a classroom with minimal books. I am working on getting a classroom library set up with a complete inventory that students can scan, check out, and borrow. I have surveyed the children in our class and these are some of the titles they have tasked me to go find. I have asked friends and family for donations and have a small start. Students are drawn to more current titles as well as award-winning books. I believe the child who thinks they don't like reading hasn't found the right book and I intend on helping them find it.
