Funded Nov 9, 2019Our students are continuing to use the Makerspace supplies that are necessary to continue learning in a creative, hands-on, fun way. The students love have markers that work! Ozobots are very picky on the codes and lines to use as coding to make the robots move to commands. Students also enjoyed having new stencils in the art area of makerspace. Students are excited to see new supplies. These supplies are consumable and have to be replaced for the activities to continue to go on. We have over 700 students for one library and are thankful for any support!”

Did You Hear That? Headphones for Independent Study
Funded Aug 9, 2019Thank you for supporting our "Did you hear that? Headphones for independent study" grant. Students use the headphones for a variety of uses. They use them to work in small group or independent work on their computers and Google Classroom. Our teachers focus on personalized learning for students and the headphones help support that learning objective. Students can work without disturbing their neighbors.
We are also using the headphones for listening to audio books. Students can read along while listening to their book. This is helpful for students who may struggle with reading. We have added headphone jack devices that allows five headphones to connect to one device such as a computer or iPad. This is used for reading groups, book clubs or literature circles.
The headphones may be checked out from the library by teachers as a classroom set. Teachers are so excited to have these available to enhance student learning.”

Funded Aug 8, 2019Our students are enjoying the supplies purchased for STEAM EXTREME which were used during our annual family night event. Over 300 students and families attended and got to use our hands-on tinkering and making items. We focused on science, technology, engineering, arts and math which make STEAM. We are also using the connectors and KEVA Planks in our library. Our library is the hub of our school and our students love spending time looking for books or being creative in our makerspace area. We have over 756 students visit the library every two weeks and the items are getting used daily. Every Friday, our special education students have makerspace time in the library. The Play-Doh and KEVA planks are a big hit. Students practice fine and gross motor skills. The dry-erase boards are used in classrooms and for our makerspace area to save on paper. Donors like you help make all this a successful and enjoyable experience for our students. We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Funded Jan 30, 2019Thank you so much for supporting our Mustang Makers in McNair's Makerspace Program. Our students are so excited to get to use the new materials of Bloxels, Fuse Beads and K'Nex. Students have been hard at work creating their on video games with Bloxels. What a great way to encourage coding skills. The Fuse Beads have been used to help students build finer motor skills and they have enjoyed the creative process of design. K'Nex building kits are a great addition for our future engineers! We have incorporated these items into the Makerspace area that are checked out by teachers and used in their curriculum and as part of extension activities. They are also used during our Makerspace Club times. Makerspaces make minds grow and you have helped in that process!”
