This project will be the first step in creating a history lab for college prep students seeking to satisfy New York State and International Baccalaureate requirements. By utilizing the wireless projector and Surface Pro students can easily "project their projects" and become competitive with peers in schools in which this technology is commonplace. Students will hone critical analytical skills as they develop their presentations that incorporate resources (i.e, the 1619 Project, New York Times, August 14, 2019) using the tablet to evaluate other resources in the Civil Rights in the America unit. One goal is to access streaming services and primary sources as well as peer reviewed articles and documentaries, so that students can develop their own perspectives on history and come to experience the process historians use to draw conclusions and present varying viewpoints. Students will actually show their research process in a seminar setting that can be developed on the Surface Pro and projected in different locations in the school and around the community using the wireless projector. The combination of the Surface Pro with the wireless projector will make history writing more familiar to students and will encourage practice which is essential for college readiness and successful completion of IB requirements. Historical writing can actually be fun for students when they have the opportunity to work together as a learning community and "project their projects!"
