Who's Got Coffee?
Funded Nov 7, 2019Thank you so much for your support of this project! The students' have responded better than expected to becoming coffee-makers and accountants. These students have become so excited for Friday mornings to be able to make coffee, hot chocolate, and tea for their teachers. The confidence in my students just radiates through them.
The students were so excited as these boxes arrived as they were able to help sort and color code all of the items. My students have really been working hard to work as a team, take turns, have patience with each other, and to work on socializing with adults and peers. My student council members that are working as my managers have really taken my students under their wing and help them at each step of the way to make a successful, and delicious, cup of coffee; each and every time.
Your monetary support of this project is whole-heartedly appreciated. Thank you again for your kindness in donating for my project.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lindsey
Student-Led Independent Coffee Company for MCE!
Funded Oct 29, 2019Thank you so much for supporting this project! My students have had a blast these past few weeks getting to act in different roles such as being accountants, stockers, and baristas. Daily, I get asked if it's a coffee cart day and if they get to make and deliver the coffee. This project is creating such confidence in my students as they become more successful and interact with teachers throughout the school environment.
As the items began to roll in, my students had no idea what they were for, except for the fact that they were going to be for a big project. As items were delivered and we began putting them together, they were very excited about this project which then began the constant asking of when we would start the Coffee Cart.
I cannot thank each of you enough for your support of this project! They are truly becoming so excited about learning, and that they are able to complete basic life skills successfully. I am seeing my students talk to teachers in the hallways and acknowledge people that they are becoming more familiar with daily.”

This classroom project was brought to life by hand2mind and 4 other donors.iLearn through iPads
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you for your funding of my project to add student iPads to my classroom. As a special education teacher, these iPads have impacted the way that my students are able to interact with the curriculum that they are asked to learn. Through technology, we are able to use text-to-speech and speech-to-text for students who struggle with reading and writing or are easily frustrated when long writing assignments take a lot of time.
These iPads also allow me to provide new learning experiences for my students because we are working on the same skills for the majority of the year. This ability allows me to keep instruction fresh and fun for all students throughout the year. The students that I currently serve are generally very interested in computer and video games so having iPads allows me to interact with students based off of their interests.
The iPads have been life-changing for all students, but in particular, one of my fourth grade students has flourished with the ability to use an iPad because it has made his work seem less intimidating. Prior to having the iPads he would be a frequent behavior problem, but now that he is able to use speech-to-text for his journal writing and other types of tests, he is much more compliant and his grades are reflective of this as well.
On behalf of my students, and from the bottom of my heart, I genuinely thank you for funding my project.
