  • Kids Who Code!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for supporting the students in my school. This school year we were able to host a full week of activities during CSEd Week in December 2022. During that week, students, staff and teachers were able to learn about Computer Science. The materials provided has helped students in grades K-5 interact and learn computer science concepts such as coding, algorithms, programming and debugging.

These materials introduced the entire school community to coding and computer science skills in a hands-on way. Students were excited and able to problem solve when creating code. Students were able to build the code with the materials and then transfer that knowledge to building code on the computer.

I am truly grateful for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McBurnie

  • We Need Diverse Books

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

I want to start off by saying thank you. My first grade students are still developing a love for books and reading. The books provided in this project has helped to grow and foster that love for reading.

These books showcased characters who look like my students and have similar experiences to them. My students were able to make text-to-self connections and see how they can be mindful about their words and actions.

I was filled with joy to see my students reading and enjoying what they were reading. They asked so many questions while reading and discussed their books with their partners or tablemates.

Through these books, we focused on social-emotional learning. We learned about cultural diversity and what it means to be the same and different. We also learned about what it means to be an inclusive classroom and how to show care and kindness to all.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McBurnie

    Funded Aug 16, 2021

Thank you for supporting my classroom and my students. They were overjoyed to receive the materials. This is the first year I am teaching Computer Science as a part of the district's Computer Science for All (CS4All) initiative. The materials provided has helped first graders interact and learn computer science concepts such as coding, algorithms, and debugging.

First graders were excited and able to problem solve when creating code. These materials helped solidify their learning in a hands-on way. Students were able to build the code with the materials and then transfer that knowledge to building code on the computer.

I am truly grateful for your generosity. I wish you all a bright and prosperous New Year!”

I am a first grade teacher and a Computer Science Lead teacher for grades K-2. My students are part of an underserved community in Brooklyn, NY. This project will help my students learn and understand computer science concepts such as coding and also engineering. By using Botley, my students will understand and see their code come to life in an interactive way. When using magna tiles, students can create, design and build structures. By donating to our project, you will help the littlest learners understand computer science vocabulary and concepts that will help them in their future years as program designers, content creators, and scientists.
