  • Students Use Technology to Save Salmon

    Funded Nov 7, 2018

My students are so excited, they are so connected to helping restore the salmon habitat and your donation will help them make the leap from concerned students to actively engaged field scientists. They will be able to make a real-world contribution to restoring ecosystems and will be able to use data to tell their story! This is the beginning of something big thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Burlette

This classroom project was brought to life by Samsung and one other donor.
  • Future Scientists: have drive, need hands on materials

    Funded May 27, 2010

Thanks to your donations, images from the textbook have literally leaped off the page. My students are truly engaged and fascinated by earth science. Having seen the variety in the rocks and minerals collections, many have started their own rock collections and are asking great questions about the origins of rock.

The microscope has lead us in new directions as students have brought in mystery samples that we first describe then hypothesize over and discuss. These concepts are finally real and concrete for my students. You have helped stretch their thinking and their appreciation for the world around them. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Burlette

  • Put Young Scientists' Hands on Conservation

    Funded Jul 1, 2010

I can't thank you enough for the generous donation to my classroom. My students are motivated by the Teaching Tank and are making daily discoveries through Bottle Biology. Many have taken experiments and models home to share with their families. Whenever they are finished with assignments they all want to sign up to play Ecosystems and Biomes bingo.

Their focus on and interest in science has soared thanks to your help in purchasing these items. Our next big project is studying the river ecosystem and the kids are filled with anticipation about the river tank. They have just taken their first benchmark tests and have performed beyond expectations thanks to the hands-on experiences you have helped provide.

Thank you for making such a difference in their lives. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Burlette

Make a small donation to make a big difference today! My students are an eager group of bilingual students, most of whom are the first in their families with a formal education. They attend an inner city school with a high poverty rate and little exposure to life experiences that they relate to science concepts. They love learning new concepts and sharing their knowledge with their siblings. Even with the basic supplies we have and outdated textbooks, they are making connections between the science disciplines. Their teachers and families have ingrained the importance of school in them and they are always asking for more work and pushing for more ways to learn.
