  • Democracy in the Library

    Funded Sep 19, 2024

Thank you for the amazing support you have given our students and library program. The books and posters have provided wonderful learning opportunities for our students. We've used the books for class lessons and students have borrowed on their own. The posters have been shared and used for several displays, including a fabulous scavenger hunt promoting civics learning. It was great to see the students engaged in important discussions about government and democracy. We are looking forward to using these fabulous materials in years to come, to continue the learning activities you have helped make possible. Thank you again.”

  • Cards and Crafting

    Funded Jun 26, 2024

It has been an amazing fall in our Middle School library. The lunch periods are usually full, with students visiting the library for a variety of reasons. Mostly, they come for books, and to spend time with friends in a place that is warm, fun, and friendly.

Our new card games and crafting supplies are a huge hit! we've had tons of card tournaments and hundreds of bracelets designed and exchanged. Thank you so much for making this possible. it means so much to our students to have materials to choose from and readily available. They're so excited each time I take out some thing new and your generosity has made that all possible.”

  • Readers Ready for Spring

    Funded Feb 6, 2024

Thank you for your generous donation to our school library. The students love having the opportunity to select a bookmark for their next great read. It is a small thing, but it's so much fun to see the excitement on the faces of our students as these young readers leave the circulation desk with a small gift to take on their journey. The tie-dye bookmarks and craft kits in particular were a big hit this spring, as students love to express their creativity.

Thank you for your support and for caring about our students.”

  • Historical Fiction Brings History to Life

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

We truly appreciate your kindness in helping us bring this project to completion. This amazing novel has already made the rounds in two sets of classes.

After working on informational text focused on the infamous Triangle Factory Fire of 1911, many of our 7th graders wanted to read more about the tragedy. The made connection ruins between the characters in the novel and their real- life counterparts. The novel deepened their thinking and prompted more research.

Our 6th graders have been reading survival stories and many students selected this novel for their independent reading.

We know that book choice is an important factor in whether or not kids read. Thank you for giving our students more choice.”

  • Fun and Games in the Library

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you for your generous donation. Your kind support help bring this project to life in our library. Students come to the library on their own during open access, either after school or during their lunch. Some students are just looking for a break, a time to spend with friends and, they love when we have new puzzles and games. Connect four has been a big hit and I've seen tournaments spring up spontaneously. Students love the puzzles, especially since they are just challenging enough to be completed during a lunch period. Thank you again for providing support to our kids.”

  • STEAM Activities for Active Thinkers

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

This project has brought so many students to the library during open access lunch periods for the first time. Groups of friends love to see what they can create together, and they love to challenge each other! Whether they are creating an obstacle course, a flying machine, the tallest tower, or the swiftest paper airplane... It's a pleasure to see students, working out a problem and having fun. Thank you so much for helping us bring these great activities into our library. The materials are providing fun learning opportunities for my students today, and will continue to inspire students in years to come.”

  • Write On! Tools for Middle School Journaling

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

Thank you for your kindness and generosity, helping to make this project a success. Students were thrilled to select their special notebook, choosing their favorite colors, or, one that represented a theme they hoped to include in their writing. Each student was given a selection of pens, and they were off to journal! It was especially nice to see that calmness on their faces as they opened a book and decided whether they would write, draw, or jot for their first page.

Sometimes, materials, spark, creativity. Sometimes creativity finds its way onto the page all by itself. Thank you for supporting our students. And their imaginations.”

My sixth grade students are amazing kids, from a variety of cultural, economic and social backgrounds. Some are very poor, without basic supplies at home. Others have access to computers. Few, if any, have printers to publish their fantastic projects. This is the Middle School I attended as a child, and so I feel deeply connected to the students and fully responsible for their learning.
