Getting Comfy during Circle Time!
Funded Nov 15, 2021My PK students and I would like to thank you all for your donations in which we were able to obtain an easel and rug for circle time. We are greatly thankful as we can do many things during our instructional day. When we first received the easel and rug my students were so excited to have something new in our classroom. I explained to them how we were able to obtain these things.
We use both the rug and easel daily. Every morning we write our morning message on it. I also demonstrate class assignments on it. I use many magnetic props, shapes, numbers, letters, pictures to teach lessons and retell stories. I am able to move it around the room as it has wheels and walk around the classroom to show students what I write. I love how it can be interactive as I have students write with me the daily messages. Students love to write on it and share their thoughts with their classmates. The easel also has tubs in the back in which I use to sort manipulatives, books, props, etc. that I will be using for the day. These tubs in the back are extremely useful as I am able to grab, use and put back items as I teach the daily lessons. I am able to utilize the easel in many ways that help my students learn and help me maximize time by having everything I will need sorted into the tubs.
My students love our colorful rug. Prior to receiving the rug, my students would sit on their chairs during circle time as our previous rug was damaged. It was a bit hard to keep them all focused as many would be playing with their chairs while I was teaching or explaining activities/assignments. Having this rug allows my students to sit and have a small place of their own. Each student has an assigned spot in which they sit every day. Having their own spot to sit on helps a lot as I am able to teach lessons and observe them all at the same time. The rug is a place where they get to interact with one another and aske each other questions about the stories we read or what they are learning. During circle time in the rug, we also sing and dance our daily songs, role play our weekly stories, review our calendar and learn.
My current class is Pk and will soon be moving on to kindergarten. I am extremely grateful my current students have been able to use the easel and rug. I am hoping they move forward with positive memories and experiences. This couldn't have been possible without your donations.”

Funded Jan 31, 2021The document camera that was provided for my class has been a life saver. I am now able to project live activities to my virtual students at home. In Pre-k, a lot of our instructions includes hands on activities. Through the document camera I can model lessons and activities to all students. I can use manipulatives for Math to teach counting, sorting, and patterns. Students can see live how I use and handle the manipulatives. I can demonstrate how to write a sentence as students can see me live model on how we write on a sheet of paper. Using the document camera, I can show students at home what they would be seeing if they were in the classroom.
My students are excited to see the lessons in action, especially the students at home. It is very difficult to demonstrate hands on activities through a technology device as you are not able to show all aspects of the activity. I feel that with the document camera I am able to provide a 3d model of lessons and activities and therefore my students have a better understanding of what I am teaching.
My virtual students like when I demonstrate lessons/activities through the document camera as they are not physical present in the classroom to see me in action. I feel that through this they feel a little connected to the classroom setting.”

Funded Jul 21, 2019I would like to thank you all for providing a color printer and ink for my class. Thanks to this donation, I am able to print materials for my students in color. In Pre-Kinder, we do a lot of hands on activities and many of these activities consists of teacher made materials. The materials go into the student workstations which students use on a daily basis to learn different concept such as letters and numbers. Having access to printer in my own classroom allows me to print in color and put together workstations for my students.
I am extremely happy that thanks to the color printer, I can print materials in color rather than just black and white. The color in pictures, letters, numbers, etc. grabs the attention of my students in such a way that they are excited and eager to work on their workstations. They can see the details of color in pictures and words.
All my students are benefiting from this project donation as they all get to utilize all the materials that are printed out from the color printer. It brings warmth to my heart that my students students are learning through the use of colors rather than plain black and white. I want to teach them that the world around them is full of color.”
