Flexi Chair Design and Cost Analysis
Funded Dec 19, 2024I am so grateful for your donations.
When the students first saw the new chairs, they were thrilled! Their eyes lit up as they realized they would have the freedom to choose how and where they worked. The idea of having different seating options felt empowering to them, and they immediately wanted to try them out. It was a shift in how they viewed their classroom space—it suddenly felt more like a place designed for them to work and learn comfortably, rather than just a space where they had to sit still for long periods. The excitement was palpable, and even other grades started asking if they could borrow the chairs! The 8th grades are why we didn't have this last year. They are too funny!
Looking ahead, the next steps for my students involve continuing to utilize the flexible seating in all kinds of collaborative and individual projects. One upcoming lesson focuses on designing their ideal learning environments. They'll work in small groups to plan how they would arrange a classroom for maximum focus and creativity. This will not only reinforce the importance of flexible spaces but also allow students to take ownership of their environment. Additionally, our school's occupational therapist loves having her sessions in my classroom now, as the chairs offer a great range of movement options that help her students feel more comfortable and focused. It's amazing to see how this resource has helped not only my students but others across the school!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Grant
