  • Toys in School? YES PLEASE!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Once again, thank you for your generosity in donating funds to purchase new earphone and kinesthetic learning supports for my students.

With this purchase, students were able to the headphones to use online learning platforms such as i-Ready to deliver a personalized learning experience. Students also used the headphones to participate in virtual meetings and even for fun games. Last but not least, these headphones also provided noise filtration when a student with sensitive hearing was going into a loud performance space. They are an invaluable tool!

Additionally, these funds were used to purchase a popular "fidget toy" to reinforce their multiplication skills. The Multiplication Pop Its were a HUGE hit and helped to replace any nervous energy with excitement and positivity.

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zoldessy

You just helped us take a big step towards ending food insecurity in our school community. Thank you for your generosity in this project!

  • Zooming Toward Success!

    Funded Sep 17, 2020

Thank you all for your continued support!! My students have been using their headsets in all kinds of cool ways! While using their headphones, students are able to engage in interactive computer programs that provide individualized scaffolded instruction. Additionally, I am able to meet with my students in small groups for targeted support using Zoom and Google Meets, all while staying socially distanced. We are also able to work collaboratively using e-learning tools like Jamboard and breakout rooms in various virtual meeting sites that allow us to build upon and present each others' ideas in real time. We use the microphone to give each other feedback and build each other up! Stay tuned for more great things from class 402!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zoldessy

  • Making Remote Learning Matter!

    Funded Sep 9, 2020

Since the arrival of this incredible gift, my students have engaged with the world around them in a whole new and exciting way. Below are some examples of how we use the technology in our classroom.

    1. We have the world at our fingertips! We are able to use the internet and various search engines to research topics important to us and to apply what we've learned to back up our opinions.

    2. We use iReady as a means for personalized instruction and fluency building.

    3. We use jamboard and other virtual white boards to collaborate on projects and solving problem activities.

    4. We use Google Meet and breakout sessions to collaborate with each other or meet with the teacher in a small group, Covid-friendly setting.

    5. We play learning games and have friendly Trivia Competitions!

    6. We learn about current events and discuss their impact on our society.

And so much more!! Thank you again for committing to change by bringing the gift of technology to my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zoldessy

  • Math Adventures Await!

    Funded Aug 14, 2019

Hooray! We have made it to Winter Break! We have been very busy learning, reflecting and growing!

Our new computers have opened up a whole new world for us! We are regularly supporting our classroom learning with iReady and other internet-based educational experiences. Specifically, iReady has helped us to visualize the movement of place value disks through the place values, multiplying using "groups of" and regrouping when adding and subtracting. The fact that the computers have high speed, wireless internet, a lot of memory, and all their keys, makes our experience seamless and frustration free. We don't have to wait for "our turn" for the old, broken laptops and instead can use our new chromebooks at will.

Some particular students that have benefitted from our new computers are our English Language Learners and Students With Disabilities. The interactivity of the lessons and the visual breakdown of the the components give multiple entry points into the content and provide scaffolds for various types of learners. Everyone learns in our classroom!

Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Zoldessy
