As a public school SLP, I serve nearly 60 children from ages 3-12. My students are working on a wide range of goals that require lots of different materials, manipulatives, and games to effectively address their individual needs. Letter sound tubs would enable my students to be able to touch and play with objects that go with the different speech sounds. My students with cognitive disabilities benefit from the use of objects to help them understand various concepts. Picture cards that are bright and current help me elicit a variety of language structures from my students with language delays. My students are working on building their vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension to be more effective communicators in their classrooms. Commercial games allow my students to work on basic social skills such as taking turns, following rules, and winning and losing appropriately. It also engages my students and motivates them to continue even when the content is new and difficult for them.
