I was shocked when I walked into my new kindergarten classroom this year to find that there were no books for my students to read. Not even one. After asking other teachers for donations I received some older curriculum nonfiction readers. These books were not engaging for my young readers and although I was grateful, I was saddened by the lack of classroom libraries in my school. Reading is such a vital skill, but also such a wonderful gift. Many of my students come from homes where they do not have books. I want to give my students every opportunity to fall in love with reading. I want my students to always have a book in hand. Please help me to give the gift of reading to my students by providing them with a classroom library.
