  • Fabulous Books for Reluctant High School Readers!

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

Oh my goodness!!! I really didn't know if this would get funded and I truly yelped out loud when I received the news this evening!

These books are the very coolest of the cool and I can't wait to have the students read them next semester in their literature circles!

Thank you so much for helping out with this project!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Peterson

  • Dictionaries!

    Funded Dec 30, 2013

"Dictionaries?" "We got dictionaries?" "They're all the same!" "They're new!" "There's enough for everyone?" These are just some of the excited exclamations the students made when the large and heavy boxes arrived earlier this winter.

Between my two Intensive English classes and two Strategic English classes, we are using the dictionaries on a weekly basis. While it may seem archaic to be wanting dictionaries in our digital age, the students learn so much about words and spelling by using a codex dictionary. Students are able to quickly look up words on a smart phone but looking up a word in a dictionary helps them understand the fundamentals of spelling and word origins. We've been able to look up definitions to new vocabulary words from our literature and now the students are each able to find the same definition. It's such a relief to have all the students on the same page when they are given a specific word to research it's etymology!

This project has boosted both classroom performance and has allowed for classroom lessons to be completed much more smoothly. Thank you so much for your huge generosity. We are very blessed to have amazing people like you in our lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Peterson
