Fabulous Field Trip to the California Academy of Sciences
Funded Jan 19, 2016Dear Donors,
Our class had a fantastic time on our trip to the California Academy of Sciences!
The fun started with the bus ride. Students enjoyed a view of the bay and the city as we made our way over the Bay Bridge and through San Francisco. Classmates chatted with each other non-stop about all manner of topics, stimulated by the excitement of the trip.
When we arrived and entered the museum, we headed straight for the penguin exhibit in order to get there by feeding time. We had studied penguins prior to the trip, and it was interesting to actually see some and learn more about them.
From there, we visited the rainforest exhibit, an enclosed space simulating the real thing--including the temperature and humidity! Beautiful butterflies abounded and impressed us. Samples of rainforest plant life, from the forest floor to the canopy were represented. The songs of tropical birds announced their presence.
From the exhibits in the African Hall to the aquarium, the living roof, the tide pool (where students were able to touch starfish and sea urchins), and the swamp (where they observed a white alligator), students enjoyed every inch of the museum that we covered.
Eating lunch and playing outside in the grass topped off our wonderful trip before we headed back to school. When we discussed the trip and wrote and drew about it over the next few days, it was clearly evident that the trip had enhanced students' knowledge about plants and animals.
Once again, I must express my appreciation for those who were kind enough to donate the money that made this trip possible!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hill

Funded Dec 20, 2008Thank you so much for your willingness to fund our project! My students will be so excited to hear that they will soon have a wonderful new selection of playground equipment to enjoy. We were down to one basketball and a few frazzled ropes!
Due to financial challenges of my own, I could not squeeze the extra money from my own budget to replace our equipment. So I especially appreciate that, during these trying economic times, someone like you would understand the value of a safe and fun recess for students, and come to our rescue. What a wonderful gift!
We just began our winter break, but I can't wait to get back to school and share the good news! Thanks again, and may you enjoy a wonderful holiday season and a great new year filled with blessings”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hill
