  • Art Creations

    Funded May 27, 2021

The special education department, students and staff of Marvin Avenue Elementary thank you so much for your kindness!

Your generous donations allowed for our special education students to express themselves through art. The various art media such as the gel crayons and colored pencils intrigued them and made them very excited as those materials are not always readily available to them. The water colors and the water color paper/construction paper are also materials that excited them because they were not limited to supplies.

The students were able to use them at the end of this school year and will continue to do so in the upcoming school year because many of them remain with their teacher for various grade levels. Individual art kits were able to be made for each student so they will continue to create and express themselves through art in the upcoming school year because of your generosity. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nava

  • Summer Here We Come!

    Funded May 10, 2021

Thank you for granting my TK students the opportunity to come full circle and start their Summer of 2021 in a better way then when they started TK in 2020! They had to end their Summer of 2020 by coming into "Zoom" school with me, their teacher. We spoke about the Beach and all of its characteristics through out first Topic "At the Beach" but they couldn't go to the Beach due to Covid quarantine rules. As we finished TK we again discussed the beach, insects, and ecology. These sand tools/toys allowed them to have the tools available to have hands on experience and go digging as they explored the beauty that is the ocean.

My students were so happy and excited to be able to go to the Beach and even more excited to use their brand new sand tools/toys. They were so excited to be able to explore the beach and were very grateful for the care kit of a snack and treat to go with them as well. I am hoping that my students have the freedom to continue to explore the world around them and that they continue to be surrounded by generous people like you, who care about them! Thank you again for your awesome support and giving hearts!”

  • Lets Make Terrariums

    Funded May 5, 2021

Thank you so much for giving my students and I the amazing opportunity to create our very own mini eco systems. We had so much fun learning, discussing, observing and coming to conclusions about the Earth and the importance of taking care of every species. We observed and noticed different things every day! We had sharing time and wondering time. My students were able to see their seeds grow right before their eyes! I could see them thinking and that is amazing! They were so excited and happy to have this experience. Thank you again for allowing my students to have this experience!”

  • Learn Through Playing at the Farm

    Funded May 3, 2021

My students and I had the very best time learning about "Farms and Food Sources". We were able to have hands on realia because of your generous donations. These magnetic farm scene easels gave my students so many opportunities to create. They created farm animal scenes with the magnets and were able to draw with the dry erase marker and board. They then were able to create farm machines with the magnets and then a complete farm scene. It was so amazing to see them making connections and creating based on what we were learning at the time. Thank you so much for being so giving and caring so much about the education of my students.”

  • Our TK Adventure Book

    Funded May 3, 2021

Our adventure books were created! The students and I were able to create beautiful creations with these blank scrapbooking books. My students were able to design work, print out photos, and design their own books based on their very own work.

The parents and students were able to learn about the creation of a memory book along with discussing the importance of time through a timeline. We reminisced and discussed events we went through and had this school year. It was so awesome and beautiful to see my students appreciate the art of creating their adventure book.

Thank you for allowing this to happen as it was very special and memorable. This year has been very challenging and being able to express ourselves through art is so important. My students and I were able to do this because of generous people like you! We appreciate you so much!”

  • Great Hydration Equals Great Learning

    Funded Apr 30, 2021

As we reopened our school, my students had so many limitations due to safety measures that needed to be in place. My students wanted to come to school but didn't realize the little things that needed to be in place in order for their needs to be met. Parents helped but just like anyone else during this pandemic, many of them were struggling.

These simple awesome and easy to use water bottles saved my students from being thirsty. They were able to learn and keep hydrated. They didn't have to worry about being thirsty or feeling the calamity of not having water at their disposal.

My students and I are forever grateful! We now have a new found respect for water fountains and the great need of water in order to keep us healthy and strong. We also realized that being healthy and strong makes our brains strong as well. Thank you again for your generosity.”

  • Help Bring TK Some Holiday Cheer, SightWord and STEM Practice

    Funded Nov 24, 2020

Thank you for being so amazing and giving to my students and I. We had a blast creating the gingerbread house setting and discussing the characters they made out of the awesome stickers. They also painted their wooden heart boxes, cars, flowers, butterflies, it was such a happy time for them. They were all on task and didn't want to even go to zoom recess because they wanted to keep on painting!

When they first saw their stockings, they had the biggest smiles on their faces and asked if they could open them and see what was inside. Of course they did, and they loved the stuffers inside. We talked about the bubbles and what makes them float and then we talked about the pen that had lots of colors and how those kinds of machines are made and how they work. It sounds simple, but to my students, realizing how things work like simple machines is very cool to them. Therefore, I thank you sooooo much for allowing these teachable and happy moments to happen. They felt mature and were definitely up for the sight word challenge which I presented to them with the sight word flashcards. So our next steps will be completing this challenge! We are excited! My students and I are forever grateful and appreciate people like you who put students first.”

  • Fall Harvest for TK!

    Funded Oct 8, 2020

My students were so happy to receive their Fall Harvest Kit! We used the scratch art and made hanging ornaments. We colored our coloring books while enjoying the sweet treats. The little pumpkin bags contained the pumpkin sticker faces. My students made 3 different funny pumpkin faces. Some of my students even put stickers faces on mini pumpkins they had at home. Other students made the silly pumpkin face and added it to a white piece of paper to make a picture with details! I was very impressed at their creative ideas. They enjoyed sharing and laughing at each others creations while we shared them on zoom. We thank you so much for making this Fall a very happy season for my students! I appreciate and thank you!”

  • We Need Watercolors and Paper to Paint Our Feelings

    Funded Oct 15, 2020

My students and I began using the materials today in our virtual Art Class with Ms. Murray. We had all the materials needed thanks to your amazing donations. My students immediately showed Ms. Murray all of the supplies and had them ready. They were so excited to draw and to participate in art class. My students will be using the paint pad and colored pencils to draw a series of pictures using the letters of the alphabet. Today, however, since it was election day; we decided to have the students draw a fun picture explaining the importance of the power to vote. Next week, we will be focusing on the letter B and creating drawings based on that letter. All of this is possible because of your kindness! I thank you and appreciate you!”

  • TK Needs Something Fun to Practice Writing and Drawing

    Funded Jul 29, 2020

As you can see in the photos, my students are truly learning and practicing with the materials on a daily basis. They use them for daily warm up activities such as name practice and weekly focus activities. They love using the markers and white boards over and over again. The best part is when they show me their practice, drawings, and daily ideas.

My students are still super grateful and were smiling ear to ear when they picked up their learning kits. They were excited to start using the materials right away. They took their bags home and began drawing, scribbling and practicing their names.

The greatest part of these materials is that they are like a gift that keeps on giving. Their multi use design gives my students the opportunity to practice everything they are learning everyday. Therefore, I see them eventually writing simple sentences and creating number sentences as well, in the near future. I also anticipate their drawings to become more detailed. We are very grateful indeed!”

My students are just starting their educational journeys. As a lot of people might know, kindergarteners are at an age where routine and organization are very important. Therefore, having a place to store their belongings is of utmost importance. This cubbie idea is very much needed because it allows for consistent organization and also calls for responsibility in my students. They will need to learn where to put their belongings and to know what and when to get their materials. Furthermore, having a designated time and place to organize themselves is very beneficial in life. This way everything is organized and ready to do its purpose.
