  • Reading Enthusiasts

    Funded Jan 18, 2024

My kindergarten students enjoyed listening to the secret stories read for the spelling pattern story cards. The short stories and cards made it simple for the students to remember the sound of the consonants, vowels, digraphs, and team vowel patterns.

They were excited and eager to listen to and learn a new card every week. They enjoyed practicing reading and writing words for dictation and additional phonics activity work pages. Their confidence has shown and improved their overall knowledge of reading and writing.”

They will count collections and draw to show ways to find out how many pieces they have in a group. The opportunity to experience counting different amounts and showing their thinking is valuable. Their cardinality knowledge will increase tremendously. • The Gift of Learning

    Funded Dec 29, 2020

My students received their gifts with open arms. They were excited to open their bags and find all the learning tools. They are able to practice writing daily on their whiteboards with the various colors double sided markers. They also are able to draw and write on their primary journal writing books everyday.

The children are practicing phonemic awareness learning with the rhyming words and word puzzle cards. They enjoy looking for the pieces to put together the words I have them find during our virtual class. This has been a tremendous help in phonics as well since they also are able to write down the words and sentences they build.

Reading and writing has been a focus during our virtual classes. They have been able to practice by building with puzzles and transferring to reading comprehension and writing assignments synchronously and asynchronously everyday. We will continue to enhance literacy on our last weeks of school together, as well as work on independent practice during the summer months approaching.”

  • Reading Power!

    Funded Aug 9, 2020

My kindergarteners are enjoying practicing reading and writing with their school materials. They practice using letter and sound flashcards to practice fluency. We use the alphabet flashcards in class by sounding out cards to make words, ie. card c, card a, card t to sound out the word /c/ /a/ /t/. Also, they use their dry erase markers to write the words on their whiteboards.

The students also review sight words with their high frequency words (HFW) flashcards. We practice speaking using the HFW in complete sentences. They write sentences on their whiteboards practicing capital letters, spacing between words, and punctuation at the end.

Having backpacks assists students with keeping their school supplies together ready for use. They keep their guided level reading books at hand to practice their reading fluency daily. My students are able to practice being readers and writers at home and in our online class on a daily basis.”

The students will make discoveries independently and collaboratively in the subjects of language arts, listening, speaking, math, and other integrated subjects. They will grow confidence and build higher self esteem during these learning opportunities.

We are extremely thankful for providing the ability to imagine and develop higher level thinking skills! The learning materials you have donated will set an abundance of experience and increase the student's level of knowledge.”
