  • Soaring to the Future and Beyond

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

Thank you so much for donating to let our students purchase more Lego Robots and parts to allow our team to practice with. They thoroughly enjoyed working with these both in a team capacity and individually.

So sorry for the delay in replying our school recently went from a K-8 school to a 6-8 school during the pandemic. As you can image this was a very stressful time but the students handled it with grace and maturity.

Through your generosity we were still able to learn and work with the robots the entire school year. I believe it really helped students have a reason to want to return to school.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sims

  • Coding in the Country

    Funded Jan 19, 2016

We cannot thank you enough for this new technology in our library. Students are now becoming more literate with using technology for other things besides testing. It has allowed us to go on virtual field trips to places we might not have otherwise seen. Our student can now have individualized instruction and learn at their own pace. Having a class set of computers allows everyone to participate in online activities rather than just have one of the students demonstrate.

We never would have thought that having technology would help us enjoy the love of reading. However, we have found many sites with free online books, book communities and interactive books sites that have allowed many dormant or reluctant readers to thrive again. They are actively researching books on our card catalog. We are even participating in some project based learning activities that align with the books that are being read.

Again, thank you again to all who donated to this project. You have truly made a different in some of the students views on learning and school.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sims

  • Unleashing Untapped Potential

    Funded Apr 21, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donation of 25 red headphones. Our coders use them at every club meeting which is twice a week now. Having these headsets allows our students to concentrate on their own work and not be distracted by the "bells and whistles" of other projects.

I think using the headphones is one of their favorite parts of being in coding club. Because they have something special that only they can use students have pride. Students even put them in the original boxes after using them each day. They are red, which is our school color, and they have even commented on how "cool" they look. Having an 8th grader say something is cool is a big deal in the library.

Again, I want to thank you for your generous donation. We are such a small school that we are often overlooked. Many companies use the "popular vote" method to give out awards. We cannot compete in that arena because we don't have "the numbers" to win. So your generosity has help lift the spirits of our students. Knowing that someone values them is invaluable.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sims

  • Bring the World to Our School

    Funded Apr 8, 2011

Thank you so much for the wonderful encyclopedias. I felt like a kid in the candy store when they arrived. The students that were in the library at that time all crowded around as we opened the package. We love them and are so excited about using them.

Our third grade class has already gotten them out and started reading them. They looked up many different animals and even found some they had not heard of (Eg.. the hickory mouse)

As you know, with the budget cuts in education, many resources have to be cut. Fortunately with you help, we have some updated materials to work with. It could not have happened without your generous support. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sims

My school is in the rural Appalachian Mountains. The school has approximately 300 students incorporating pre-K through 8th grade. The students are wonderfully respectful and hungry to learn about all the world that surrounds them but have limited opportunities for field trips or travel. They clamor for non-fiction books and anything that is realistic in nature. They come to the library excited about learning about different parts of the world and having a set of encyclopedias allows a greater number of students the chance to learn about other cultures and ideas with information that is verified to be correct and appropriate.
