  • Help Our Speech & Language Skills Grow!

    Funded Jul 31, 2019

Our new resources have been used all day everyday in our speech room. From the velcro dots and laminate sheets that help students visually communicate and understand their schedules to the wipes that keep us germ-free as 60+ student shuffle in and out of the speech room, your donation has great impact.

As an example, on the very first day of school, I was able to put the velcro dots, binders, and lamination to immediate use as we created emergency visual support binders for students who had urgent communication needs. Having these supplies on hand was imperative.

Additionally, students have enjoyed the new activities and efficient articulation practice that the new games and articulation curriculum have provided. Our new colored pencils have brightened many speech homework activities and days as we've practiced our speech sound targets and language concepts.

These resources will serve us not just this year, but many school years in the future. Additionally, they will serve these students for a lifetime as they improve their communication skills in our small groups.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brinkmann

  • Sensing Great Speech!

    Funded Dec 7, 2017

First of all: thank you, thank you, thank you! What an amazing gift you have given us this school year! My students are enjoying the ability to make a seating choice during our speech sessions. So many of my young students struggle with attention and focus. The seats give them the chance to redirect their energy and wobble their way to great speech! The sensory materials give them a chance to regulate themselves and be ready to learn. I have seen an increase in engagement from just the short time we've had these materials.

As I unpacked my new materials over several days, I have never seen so many wide eyes! Some classrooms have similar items, but most do not. Several students were excited to give this new seating a try. We have been practicing our classroom expectations/procedures for the new materials and the students are more than willing to get with this new program!

I am constantly on the look out for new ideas to support my young learners. I am hoping to expand my materials for my early childhood and cross-categorical students who have significant language and learning needs in the future. These materials are a great first step for these sweet children to be ready to learn these skills. I am so grateful to be again reminded of the difference that good makes in the world. Your wonderful gift has made a difference for so many. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brinkmann

  • "Moo-ving" Up With Our Language Skills

    Funded Oct 21, 2016

    Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you so very much for your contribution to my speech and language classroom. I have been so touched by your generosity. My project was funded very quickly and I was very excited to receive the packages containing our materials. A small group of primary cross-categorical special education students opened the package at the end of their speech session that day. The smiles on their faces as they unwrapped and held our new materials will be etched in my mind forever.

As our farm unit will not begin until April, we have not formally utilized the materials yet; however, the wonderful thing about my job is I get to use materials that are reinforcing for my young students no matter the time. I have several students who enjoy working with farm items as they learn to communicate more effectively.

My classroom serves a wide variety of learners. From three-year-olds who are nonverbal to eleven year olds who struggle to produce /r/, our prime goal is to improve communication. Thank you for helping make that even easier for so many of my "kids."

    :) :) :)”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brinkmann
