  • Show and Tell

    Funded May 4, 2021

Thank you so much for making online summer school so much easier for my students! With your donation students are grasping concepts of math skills and reading strategies. The headphone set allows me to hear students a lot better without all background noises. The built-in microphone allows students to hear more clearer and I am not repeating myself often or students asking me to speak louder.

Thank you for providing my students with a document camera. It is so much easier to show students how to use given a text to write a summary with a document camera. Students are able to see what I am highlighting, follow along when showing text features, and able to follow along on given worksheets. Thank you so much for enhancing my students education this summer and into 2021-2022 school year!

Every mininute with students on zoom counts. You have increased my students learning in so many ways! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kellie Blankenship

  • Reluctant to Confident: High-Interest Lower Level Books

    Funded May 7, 2021

Thank you so much for the brand new books for my students! These books are high interest for middle school students but are written on their grade level (2.5-4.0). My students are engaged in reading, enjoy the vibrant pictures, and they are building vocabulary. Students love to read and share these books with their peers. "Stellaluna" is a class favorite! My students love the story of the bats! "Stellaluna" teaches diversity, acceptance, and love for people as well.

My students were reluctant to read chapter book, "Puppy Place". The book was thicker and has only a few black and white books. When I started "Puppy Place" as a read aloud students wanted to read ahead during their free time. Your donation of books has built confidence in my students reading.

Thank you! Thank you for providing more than books. Your donation has brought confidence, peer tutoring, social skills, and indepence. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kellie Blankenship

  • Keep Calm and Read On: Books About Empathy and Inclusion

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you so much for providing my students with books to help them cope and thrive during this pandemic. Many students have lost loved ones, lost friendships, and felt isolated. Your donation of books like "Ella's Mask", "Mixed up Crayon Box" and "Wonder" have opened up discussions for my students. Students are identifying their emotions and learning empathy during this time. Students are misbehaving and fighting less. With your donation for these books students are journaling and discussing rather than arguing and fighting.

Thank you for giving my students books to help cope and thrive during this pandemic.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kellie Blankenship

Your generosity will connect learning objectives across the curriculum and enhance each child's ability. The weather puppets are perfect for nonverbal students to demonstrate how to dress for rain and my higher functioning students can tell the class activities the puppet can do on rainy days which brings the conversation to why does weather change? Pre-writing skills are perfect for students just learning to write to students learning cursive. Our vision impaired therapist recommends yellow sand in the sensory table to reinforce academic vocabulary in a social setting. Letter titles and letter manipulative reinforce common strokes in writing and allows nonverbal students to communicate phonics skills. Letter titles can be used to teach the spelling of 'wow' or allowing students to use tiles to spell 'thank you for your generosity.
