Help Us Take A Stand!
Funded Jan 18, 2015My students were thrilled to get new stands. Many of them exclaimed, "Finally!" when they saw them. For a while we had been using old folding stands that would constantly fall over knocking music to the floor. Maintaining a music program is expensive, and while new instruments are a fun cause for donors to support, basic materials like reeds, valve oil, stands, chairs, etc. are really the life blood of an existing program.
You have made a tremendous impact on the musical lives of my students. You have helped to give them what they deserve; a music program that is fully funded with all the supplies needed to have a fulfilling aesthetic experience. Thank you!”
With gratitude,

Brooklyn Needs Orff Instruments!
Funded Dec 11, 2014The music students at PS 222 received their Orff instruments on the seventh of January. I'm still amazed that we were able to procure these instruments just one month after the project posted! Your generosity has already had a tremendous impact.
For years now, there has been a growing body of research suggesting that music education improves critical thinking, creative thinking, motor skills, and social well-being. The therapeutic value of music, its connection to history and culture, and its rightful place as a subject worthy of study in and of itself, is self evident.
That is why you gave. All of our donors either had life enhancing experiences themselves as young musicians, or had children or students of their own who have had them. And I can promise you, with what you gave, you gave that experience to someone else through these instruments.
Indeed, whenever one of my students adjusts their grip, tilts their stand, or gets excited about a certain piece, they remind me of an old friend from high school or college, a former student, or a current colleague. Over the past couple of weeks, every time I've seen one of them say "Cool!" at the sight of a bass xylophone, or clap at the end of an improvisation; every time they have added an accompaniment to a favorite song, or practiced their scales and arpeggios, I have seen in their faces a goodness that reminds me of all of you.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Luft
