Colorful Creations!
Funded Dec 19, 2016Thank you for donating to my project and supporting our art program! When the markers arrived students were eager to open the large boxes and see their new supplies. For the first time this year students now have a variety of thin and broad line markers in a number of bright and beautiful colors. We have used the markers to complete posters for local contests, finish artwork for an upcoming community show, and make artwork pop with color. With your donation hundreds of 1st- 5th grade students have the materials they need to create successful visual art projects.”

Funded Mar 16, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you for supporting our project! The blender and paper making kit arrived while I was teaching one of my 4th grade classes. Students were very confused about the blender. They all wanted to know when we would be making "art smoothies"! After the class had an opportunity to look through the materials and watch the DVD, we started to create our first batch of recycled paper.
So far every class in the school has participated in either collecting, tearing, blending, or drying the paper. It has been very exciting to watch students work on a large scale collaborative project. Students have been inspired to look for other ways to recycle in the art room, and are making more of an effort to conserve our materials.
As our school year wraps up, I am looking forward to incorporating our new handmade paper and recycling skills in the coming school year. I am currently working on designing a station were students can donate, organize, and make paper all throughout the year. Your donations will have an impact on hundreds of students for years to come!”

Funded Oct 29, 2015Thank you for funding our project and supporting our art room! So far we have used the construction paper and sharpies to complete self portraits and quilt squares inspired by South Carolina artisans.
When the supplies arrived at our school, every class was given the opportunity to peek inside the boxes and see the new materials. Each class was very excited and thankful for your donation! Immediately students began to come up with their own ideas for projects they would like to complete this year using the construction paper and sharpies. Students have collectively decided that we will use the construction paper to finish our South Carolina wildlife projects and make masks!
In the next couple of months, we will be using the materials to complete projects on texture, shape, and design. We are also getting ready for local art shows and can't wait to show off our bright and outlined masterpieces. Thank you again for supporting our school and the arts!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Sudduth
Back to School with the Basics!
Funded Aug 23, 2015Thank you for donating to our project "Back to School with the Basics!". So far we have used the paper to create portraits, robot drawings, pumpkin drawings, and many other works of art in just the past couple of weeks. My students have used the paper every day since it arrived at our school. The paper has allowed my students to experiment with many different types of art making materials and create large, bold, and beautiful works of art which fill our schools hallways.
During the course of this year, we plan on using the paper to create still life drawings, landscapes, and local habitat drawings.
Thank you for supporting our school, the arts, and giving my students the necessary materials to have a successful year in art!”

Stick With It!
Funded Aug 12, 2013Thank you all so much to donating to our project! Students were extremely excited to receive their glue sticks in the mail. The materials arrived right as Kindergarten was walking into the classroom and we immediately pulled out construction paper and scissors and began to collage. Not only were students excited about their new materials, but the the volume of materials that people they have never met donated to our school.
Students have used the materials to collage and create paper sculptures. Having an ample amount of glue and glue sticks allows for students to experiment with materials. Younger grades have especially benefited from having the freedom to glue layers of materials and build upon their knowledge of overlapping, space, and shape to form.
Thank you all again for supporting our school, the students, and the arts. Your donations help support hands on learning which many students never get to experience.”

Ms. Sudduth
Let's Read About Art!
Funded Dec 31, 2012Thank you all so much for funding this project! For the past couple of months students have read, drawn, and been inspired by the variety of books that are now in our art room library.
By donating to this project, you have helped to enhance the lives of every child in the school. All students in the school now have access to amazing art history, art criticism, instructional drawing, and just extremely fun and engaging books.
These books have exposed my students to so many new works of art. I cannot express how wonderful it has been to have a library for students to research and pull ideas from.
Thank you for supporting my students. Thank you for encouraging reading. Thank you for supporting the arts!”

Art Room Library!
Funded Dec 19, 2012Thank you so much for helping our art room! The past couple of weeks students have enjoyed reading and drawing from our now extensive library. With your help, students in my school now have a beautiful art room library station with a variety of books to inspire and educate them.
Having the book organizer and new books have helped to reinforce the importance of literature in all areas of study. Now all of our art room books have a home where the books are visible and easily accessible for all students.
Thank you for bringing books and a book center into our art room. Not only have you encouraged my students to read, but you have also helped to enhance their art experience!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Sudduth
Picture This!
Funded Jul 23, 2012Thank you for your donation of the Cannon Digital Camera and memory card.
With these two new additions to the art room, all students at our school have had an opportunity to document their artwork.
The digital camera and memory card have also provided the chance for our school to submit digital images for visual arts contests in and around the city. My students love the chance to compete with their peers and to see their artwork displayed outside of the school.
Students have enjoyed the opportunity to use the camera for hands on experience photographing and shooting video. We are looking forward to creating our first mini film this upcoming spring!”

Play And Play-Doh Learning To Sketch With 3-D Materials
Funded Mar 15, 2011Thank you for helping our art program to obtain a variety of Play-Doh. Over the past couple of weeks students have experimented with the Play-Doh by building cities, animals, and creating forms. It has been very exciting to watch students share their ideas with each other as they use the new material.
While the focus of this project was to let students explore 3-D materials and learn how to sketch forms, many other benefits have come from the Play-Doh. The Play-Doh is a very calming material. Many students become notably calmer when shaping and playing with the Play-Doh. The Play-Doh has helped many students in various grade levels relieve stress and create a calm and balanced classroom. Most importantly, your donation is helping my students learn in a kinesthetic environment while having a lot of fun!
Thank you for supporting the visual arts and helping to improve a striving school. I am inspired how many people have taken an interest in helping our visual arts program. While the idea of Play-Doh may seem like a very small donation, it has made a large impact on my students' exploration in the visual arts. I cannot thank you enough.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Gates Foundation and 8 other donors.Painting Adventures
Funded Mar 8, 2011Thank you for helping our Art Department to obtain paint containers. Over the past couple of weeks my students have used our exciting new resource to paint with watercolor, acrylic, and tempera paints. Before we had the paint containers, it was very hard to save colors mixed by students. Students would have to try and remake the colors they had previously mixed. Many times paints would dry up and would have to be thrown out. Now we have a way of saving paint and new color inventions!
Beyond creating new colors and saving resources in art, students have learned a number of very valuable lessons through this project. Students in all of my classes have become more self-sufficient and have the opportunity to mix colors themselves. We can now make a variety of different shades and tints of every color imaginable. These new colors can now be shared throughout the school. It is very exciting to see grades throughout the day get inspired by other classes' paint creations.
Thank you again for contributing to our Art Department. Every student in the school uses the paint containers you all have helped us get. This new resource will be available to students for years to come. ”
