  • Jump Ropes for Health

    Funded Jul 13, 2016

    Dear Donors,

The jump ropes that the children received have been an awesome addition to our physical education curriculum. All students have been asked to jump consecutively without stopping. They are to work with partners and keep track of their highest number of jumps for the day. We practice this skill for 5 minutes everyday as a warm-up for team physical education activities. All students have improved in their number of jumps from when we started. Students who have not been able to jump more than 3 times without stopping are now able to jump 18-20 repetitions without stopping. Students that started jumping between 80-100 times without stopping are now able to jump 125-140 times without a break.

The students are getting a great cardiovascular workout and they are having so much fun jumping. They are now incorporating backwards jumping, jumping on one foot or running and jumping. We have also asked a special education class to join us for physical education class.

thank you again for your donations and all of your caring.”

  • Supplies for My Students whole at Home!

    Funded Jul 12, 2020

Thank you so very much for your generous donations to my classroom. The students are so excited to be getting school supplies instead of having to go out and buy them. Many of them have one or two parents out of work right now. So, having free school supplies is a blessing for them.”

  • Variety in Sports to Soar!

    Funded Nov 22, 2019

Thank you so much for your donations to our project. I always ask the students what we need in the classroom. I feel that sometimes I ask for materials that will make my teaching easier. I also need to ask for materials that will make the students understanding of the lessons easier for them.

This was one of those projects. When we are participating in Physical Education there is always a few students that because of lack of equipment and/or space are not actively engaged. By getting these supplies, I will have all students actively engaged either in the skills we are learning or the side game this equipment will allow us to play.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Foster

  • Getting Back to Basics!

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

From the very bottom of my heart I thank each and every one of you. This school year has had a tough beginning because of a reduced budget. These supplies will get us on the road to a great and productive year. My students thank you, and I thank you.”

  • Let's Play Some Softball

    Funded Nov 3, 2017

Words escape me to describe how I felt when both the 5th and 6th graders played with all of the wonderful softball equipment that you sent us. The love you expressed by donating such wonderful equipment to our school and our children is truly appreciated. We look forward to playing with this equipment for years to come. The items were enjoyed by over 200 students and will continue to be enjoyed by hundreds more in the years to come. Again, our gratitude and our undying thanks for all that you do for students.”

  • Sports Equipment for Softball Team

    Funded May 17, 2016

The pictures that you see on the website are the honest reactions of the students using all of the wonderful equipment that you supplied them with. It was so humbling to see my students open all the boxes we received and looking at all of the equipment with awe. They have had so much fun this school year with all of the equipment. Next year, the students will also get to use it and improve their softball skills. Team sports are so important in middle school and by you supplying these items you are better preparing my students for middle school and high school.”

  • Digital Microscopes for Scientific Exploration

    Funded Apr 20, 2017

I am humbled by your donations. The microscopes will be used by over 100 hundred sixth graders to conduct investigations and gain knowledge. We had been struggling with antiquated microscopes and having equipment that works properly will be so encouraging to the students. Thank you again for your support. You are awesome.”

  • Dictionaries for Scholars

    Funded Mar 24, 2016

Dear Donors, The donations of the collegiate dictionaries have been incredibly valuable in the classroom. Our school has very basic dictionaries. The students in sixth grade need collegiate level dictionaries to research terms that they don't understand in their language arts, science and history texts. They were never able to find the words in the dictionaries that were available. By having these dictionaries, they no longer have to share the 3 college level dictionaries that I provided them. Each of them may use their own dictionary and research words at their own pace.”

  • Globes for History Explorers

    Funded Mar 18, 2016

These resources have made the introduction to new geographical areas much more hands on for the students. In the past, new geographical areas were introduced to the students by having them look at the maps in the back of their textbooks while I showed a map on the overhead projector. If we used the one globe we had in the classroom, I would pass it around and point the area of the map we were learning about. It was very slow and one or more of the students would lose the location we were trying to learn about. Now, each group of 4-6 students have one globe to work with. They look for the locales together and they is always one or two students in each group that are very quick to find the places we are learning about. They are able to compare and contrast the maps in the particular chapter with the globes and see the differences between empires and kingdoms that existed with the present day countries where these places previously existed.

When the students saw the materials, they were perplexed because the globes were not assembled. One by one the globes were assembled, then they started realizing that every small group would have one globe to use on a daily basis during history. As I stated in the project request, I teach 6th grade Ancient History in an elementary school. I see all 100 6th grade students for history. These globes are being used by the 6th graders this year and many years to come.

The greatest anecdote that I can recall from our using the globes is one students commenting on how badly the Romans did in terms of land. They went from a great republic to an amazing empire and now they are just a tiny country. The next steps for the students is for them to choose a geographical area of deeper research from which they will have to write an in-depth research paper.”

  • Desperately Seeking P.E. Equipment

    Funded Oct 22, 2014

Thank you so very much for all the wonderful equipment you bought for my students. They were just like kids on Christmas day opening the boxes and making happy noises when they saw all the equipment. All 3 classes have been able to use all of the equipment on a weekly basis. We have been practicing drills and improving the skills of all the students and their soccer and volleyball skills have improved dramatically. It's amazing to see their interest in learning new things to improve their game. You couldn't believe how much your gift has helped me students. Again a million thanks”

My students are a rambunctious group of ten and eleven year olds who love to interact with one another and life. They are full of questions and comments about a myriad of subjects. Our school sits in the middle of an extremely poor Hispanic neighborhood where 91% of the residents are renters. Most families live in a bachelor or one-bedroom apartment. Many of my students sleep on the floor and do not have a dining room table to do their homework on. Families of six people live on less than $20,000 a year when their rents are between $800 to $1,000 a month. Our school services eleven hundred students. We provide free lunch and we serve breakfast in the classroom because most of our students don't eat breakfast at home. Many of our students get themselves ready for school because the adults in their household have already left for work. We run a before school program that starts at six am and an after-school program that runs until six pm. Some of our students are at school for twelve hours a day.
